re: Where does this idea come from that supposedly 40 years ago we lived large at age 20?

Imagine this generation being asked to go to Europe and fight the Germans?! It now makes sense what happened to the French lol “this boat is too small”, “are we getting paid overtime”, “ugh is that blood”

Let me break this down in terms you can understand: your purchasing power is a direct reflection of the trillions of dollars in circulation and it has dropped for everyone not just you. What do you think will happen to your purchasing power with 4-5 trillion dollars more in circulation after Medicare funding, social programs for immigrants, and growing the federal workforce? Surely you are intelligent enough to figure that out but you will learn the hard way

quote:this is the fascinating thing to me when I speak to younger people. Instead of just looking at their silly memes I can genuinely articulate areas where they do have it difficult. Areas where I would have great sympathy for them. The problem is the things that are causing those difficulties are things that the same young people want to Triple down on. And when I try to tell them you're just going to frick yourself they seem dead set on doing it. Frankly most of the shite they want that I oppose I'm going to be good and dead by the time the chickens come home to roost. So part of me is like okay frick it. If you want to bankrupt yourselves long after I'm dead you have at it

Yeah no one is asking for anything crazy, most young folks can barely get by. The sheer hate boomers have for them is crazy
Pretty much every generation has their version of the saying "These darn kids these days..."
Some are more deserving of it than others, on an individual basis, however.

quote:I think every generation has talked shite about the younger generation. That's why if you notice in this thread I'm not making any negative comments about young people being less capable or Dumber or any of that stuff in his threat. Young people have always been a little stupid. Young people have always thought they knew everything. Young people have always thought they had a cure for everything. The massive difference today is simply that young people today seem to genuinely believe they're the first in the chute. When I was young I thought old people were stuck in their ways and not open to new ideas. All the same shite you here now. But you never saw me running around acting like the '80s weren't fricking awesome compared to basically every decade before it. Because they were. We had it easier than anybody in America had ever had it before and that trend has continued all the way till today. It frankly took social media to convince young people of today that somehow they fell off the trend
