When you have lost Joe Lonsdale on tariffs, maybe it wasn't a great idea to begin with?

But Ethiopia and Madagascar aren’t going to suddenly start buying billions of dollars of goods from us, and I’m not sure it helps us to punish them for it?

Lmao!! Well, it sure wont hurt us. All this shite will level out. Its just amazing how some folks cant help but be cynical and bitch about everything.
Trump won the election, he spoke endlessly about his plans and now hes doing it. We the people voted for this. If you didn't vote for him, try harder in '28.

I don't see his point??

Are their tariffs excessive? If so, then tariff the shite out of them.

ETA:
Ethiopia is only 10%
Madagascar charges us 93% Why would we not reciprocate?

So now the argument is we are raising tariffs on people who don't buy anything from us any way?

So how does that change anything then?

You people are just throwing shite at the wall hoping for something to stick when you guys know nothing.

This is such a short sited view . The tariffs are only 1 component of world wide negotiations. The gravy train many of the worlds countries have had must and will come to an end . This ends today .

No.

The argument is that we were sold on reciprocal tariffs and that's not what we got. What we got, instead, was a policy based on trade imbalance and not tariff rates.

What OP is pointing out is a criticism of what we got (not what we were promised).

Your income taxes aren't going to be replaced with tariffs. It doesn't take much thinking to realize why this won't happen.
