Our country has lost some of its regional quirks. I guess it's the internet/social media and the speed at which information and advertising is shared but people pretty much dress and speak the same (making allowances for climate differences) all across the country.

I learned it thru Schoolhouse Rock on Saturday mornings back in the 70's. I was completely oblivious at the time, being 10 yrs old or less, that it was all part of the liberal agenda even back then.

The “melting pot” or “mosaic” has been far more successful than not. Some posters just can not or will not acknowledge it.

It's success has waned over the last 5 decades due to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (Hart-Celler Act) forced on the US by Ted Kennedy and his lapdog MSM. The slide started immediately after.

The counter-argument term I remember hearing was "tossed salad". The argument being that immigrants don't really assimilate but rather all share a new common "salad dressing" in the form of some new language and customs while maintaining strong differences as the bulk of their old unique heritage.

It might be a melting pot in the south but it is definitely not in the northeast.

We've always been a melting pot of different white cultures.

People then ran with it to mean the entire globe.

Same with religious freedom, yeah for different Christians. Not the hoards of Muslims that have taken over Christian nations for centuries.

Majority of current immigrants, even legal, don't really assimilate. "Melting Pot" was coined in relation to assimilation and adding a little culture to Americana.

Now every immigrant wants to retain their culture while feeding at the American trough. Speaking or learning English as a first language should be mandatory. I don't care what you speak in your home but out and about should be English only.
