Coronavirus.

I can live through another recession.

Not sure that I could be brought back to life.

I remember hearing that on March 10. Week later, mortality rate is even lower. I remember reading about 10 days ago we would have 100,000+ dead by now. Maybe they just haven’t counted all of the bodies yet.

This is for sure another way to look at it. One small example I wonder how much the suicide rate has gone up in the past month across our country?

That's a stat you won't see on the evening news.

This. Considering my wife quit her government job 2 weeks ago to be a stay at home mom, I'm going to need this economy to bounce back in a hurry!

I don’t fear either. God’s will be done. I have done my best to prepare, I’m willing to adapt and I learned long ago that’s all I can do.

This seems to be the overall narrative on here this morning...but are y'all not watching these numbers jump of critically ill/hospitalized/dead people?

It's over 3% now. If most of everyone catches this thing 3 plus% of the population that'll add up to a lot of people. People should shift their attention away from confirmed cases and instead focus on body bags and hospitalizations as ultimate proof.

At this point I think the question we have to ask ourselves (and it's a legit question) is are 1-2 million people worth completely collapsing our economy for? And of course the other argument to slow it down or not slow it down. If we had the capacity I would say let it run its course normally and we all live our lives in normal fashion.
These folks aren't rationally looking at this crisis. The Italian situation should get EVERYBODY'S attention. They're not some 3rd world, remote country, and their situation is incredibly serious! They got 600-700 people per day dying!

I don’t understand people that worry about things they can’t control.

This country survived the depression. It will survive this also.

Meh...man the Italy situation to me is easily THE worst case scenario. I think they could end up with a 8-10% death rate. That ain't gonna happen here. While a 3% death rate for us would be awful and dramatic...I don't think we are gonna see 8-10%..

Those people live on top of one another. Old people, chain smoke, live on top of one another densly populated. That couuntry is half the size of Texas and houses 60 million people. From what I've read it's a Chinese getaway there like the US is for Mexicans. Just hoards of Chinese back and forth.

We don't have that situation here.

I wish no one ever died from any virus or disease. But they do. If we let these people crash the economy, that means misery for all, and also more death, as poverty leads to more sickness, and less help.

So, yes, financial ruin is my bigger concern. But I do think we're going to beat this hysteria and recover.

Thank you! I keep finding it strange that so few here has any kind of empathy for others. They are so much more concerned about themselves, their immediate financial needs, and their 401K than their fellow man. Sad days indeed.

No, it shouldn’t. Apples and oranges. Italy has a huge Wuhan, China population and had open travel for weeks and tried to be PC in its response. It has the second oldest population in the world and has over 3,000 cases in I ts medical staff due to complete failure to take steps in its health care units to prevent infection.

The reasons are clear why Italy is in the position it is in.
