What's your greatest fear and cause of anxiety, contracting COVID19 or financial ruin?

I'm seeing a lot of concerns with regards to the COVID19 pandemic. Here's a contrasting observation, the people I know who don't have much wealth (some are family members) are concerned with their families health first and the financial aspect not so much. They worry about country surviving and their family's health, they're not really in freak out mode.......until they go to the grocery store, Walmart or Sam's and now they're pissed.

The others I know who have acquired quite a lot of savings and retirement investments are having much more anxiety ......I haven't asked them the OP question but I think some are possibly more concerned about financial ruin first and their health second. I understand their anxiety.

I'm going to continue praying daily for Americans and the world and will be thankful when this COVID19 pandemic wanes and our lives begin to normalize.....I'll give more attention to my financial health later.

At the current mortality rate, it’s not close. Financial ruin should be everyone’s concern. Once the millions die, then the cause will shift. For now, it’s apparent high death rates are out of the picture.

Yes and yes. Im not worried about dying. Im worried if I catch it and have to quarantine in my house for 14 plus days that could kill my business. Working from home is not an option for me.

Plus my wife has severe auto-immune disorders. She's in the high risk category. So I also risk getting her sick and putting her in the hospital. If I get sick she will have to go live with her mom. That's where I am with it.

It would be nice to leave my kids and (hopefully grand kids) something other than just me.

Tell me, what is the mortality rate? I’m more likely to be shot and killed in some neighborhoods there than to contract and die from Chinese flu.

This seems to be the overall narrative on here this morning...but are y'all not watching these numbers jump of critically ill/hospitalized/dead people?

It's over 3% now. If most of everyone catches this thing 3 plus% of the population that'll add up to a lot of people. People should shift their attention away from confirmed cases and instead focus on body bags and hospitalizations as ultimate proof.

At this point I think the question we have to ask ourselves (and it's a legit question) is are 1-2 million people worth completely collapsing our economy for? And of course the other argument to slow it down or not slow it down. If we had the capacity I would say let it run its course normally and we all live our lives in normal fashion.

Not everyone will be directly impacted by the virus, actually very few. Without a functioning credit/debt system you can't feed even close to 7 billion, there is no alternative system.... backup generator... when this one goes i.e. system reset. Good luck.

You're not going to get millions of people dying from this. Either way the present policies will not impact the numbers much either way... unless they go to full lock down for say 12-18 months.

Financial ruin and the possible collapse of this country and it's not even close. I still feel like I'm in a dream that I cannot wake up from. It doesn't even seem real.

Financial ruin would kill way more people than the virus could ever dream of

I'm really concerned about the small businesses in and around the KC area. The downtown area of KC has a vibrancy right now that it hasn't had in 70-80 years and it's because a lot of college educated hipsters are living and working in the core of the city. With the increased residential housing in the downtown came micro breweries, restaurants, boutique stores, art and music venues.....there's a lot happening and it will be crushing if those businesses don't survive......I can tell you, I drove through the heart of the downtown twice this week where all the action is typically flowing through the streets and it was like a near ghost town.:

I just hope we don't go back to the Obama economy (the one he blamed on Bush, not the one he takes credit for under Trump).

That's easy. I'm scared to death that the new LSU QBs won't have enough practice time with receivers to get in sync.

I worry about health and wealth. Damn my 401k has taken a huge hit. From best year 2019 to so far worst year. I guess more financial. If I’m going to die from this I at least want my family taken care of.
