What I don't understand is why they don't even understand the basics of this.

1. 2 weeks of social distancing really doesn't help, but even with a 15-30 day shutdown... the economy is going into a depression

2. if they want to kill the virus we would would probably have to completely shutdown for 12-18 months which is impossible due to no food coming to Amazon within probably 60-90 days or less

3. even if they turned on the economy on tomorrow, not a given that the whole thing doesn't implode anyway at this point

Its not financial ruin, that's already a given... its the potential for something much greater and on a scale the world has never seen.

Italy wishes they'd have had two weeks of social distancing to get ahead of this.

Family's health.

The economy will recover, hopefully sooner and not later, but it'll be ok.

There is nothing to get ahead on. You are really just trolling at this point.

If one has to go to the hospital, the vast majority are dying... if you have to be put on a vent 95%+ chance you die right there.... not in a month or two month... basically right there.

To be fair, there has been no point when he wasn't trolling.

The whole Italy narrative is comical.

Italy literally CREATED their disaster.

There would be if we had idiots like you making decisions.

Thankfully, Trump isn't as stupid as some of you.

Quantify this for me

With the current statistical likelihood of CV killing you or someone you love, how long would you be willing to financially ruin yourself and your loved ones to avoid that statistical likelihood?
1 year?
3?
5?
10?

Is there a limit?

Coachcrisp, I think you are older if not mistaken. Are you taking any special precautions?

I’ve decided to stay away from my mom for a while just so I don’t drag it to her by accident.

I’m not afraid of financial ruin or death. I’m concerned about leaving by precious grandchildren with an oppressive government.

That's easy. I'm scared to death that the new LSU QBs won't have enough practice time with receivers to get in sync.

So thankful we were able to win, go to the White House and have the parade before all this happened. The first Wuhan virus case was three days after the parade.

Good news. I just watched an episode of 'Extreme Cheapskates' and this family doesn't use toilet paper because it's not necessary. They use newspaper. It's free from trash dumps.
I knew that people used paper from catalogs before toilets were invented but I didn't know the proper technique.
You don't keep it flat. You crumple it up in your hand like a ball. Then wipe, then put it in the trash (it will clog up the toilet if you flush).
This PSA has been brought to you by Zach.

I know the feeling.
I just started a career in tech and got engaged. Mostly worried about how that could be jeopardized.

I say this as a physician and mental health professional- we know that due to the recession of 2008 the financial stress led to an increase of 1450 suicides over baseline over the next three years. We may see more deaths from suicide, murder, and chronic diseases due to the economy than from this disease itself.

Financial. I’m 61 and have taken a beating despite being fairly conservative in my investments. Doesn’t help that I’m retiring in August. It will work out though.

I remember hearing that on March 10. Week later, mortality rate is even lower. I remember reading about 10 days ago we would have 100,000+ dead by now. Maybe they just haven’t counted all of the bodies yet.
Mortality rates and total deaths are two different things. The Spanish flu had a mortality rate of approx. 10 % and at least 50 million people died. If the mortality rate of this virus is just 1% (Italy is tracking well over 5%), and you take into consideration the additional # of people in the world...and one can go on and on about the close proximity of people to each other in today's world.
I certainly hope you're correct, and this is all overblown, but until we get a better handle on everything, I'm going to go with the experts.
