linking a non-christian non-white group to violence is no longer acceptable to the left, and being suspicious or cautious of muslim/islamic countries and groups is seen as racism, no matter how valid the concerns are. it's much more important to paint republicans as racist than it is to acknowledge the legitimacy of some of their concerns. it is also a link to a time where we as Americans were united against a common enemy, and the left cant have that either. the only acceptable enemy to the left is domestic white conservative males.
