Don't agree with the music part. Listen to whatever you want to.

A 48 year old music video certainly can't define our current culture. And I like that song.

Correct. This is a function of British food sucking total arse for the most part.

This was when I knew that things were changing for the worse in 'normal' families.
It was before Christmas and a Grandmother and Granddaughter were shopping in a major Metarie food store. Girl asks, "Grammy, which tube of biscuits do we buy?" Grammy points out the Pillsbury.
I really expected that to be a cross generational learning experience and Grammy to tell her granddaughter that she would teach her to make the best biscuits from scratch.

Christian values, speaking English.

A common culture begins with a common language. After that the shared culture of a nation has it's roots in the history of the nation, the predominant and historical religion of a nation, the shared moral values of the people, the love and enjoyment of national pastimes such as sports, holidays and various types of recreation.

We can agree to disagree, I tolerate Mexican music...I detest Indian music

1. English speaking - we may not have an official language but English is by far the most predominant language in our culture and it is recommended you learn the language if you want to reside here long term. You can still speak your native language when it suits you but you should learn English.
I agree with your list
And speaking English should be the easy one.
Most Europeans speak their native language and English
We aren’t bilingual but anyone that wants to live here should have to speak English
Sick and tired of having to listen to Spanish phone messages etc.

The Declaration of Independence,The Constitution (especially the Bill of Rights), the 10 Commandments, the Golden Rule, John Locke’s concept of Natural Rights, etc.
The simple truth is a limited government, expansive individual freedoms, individual responsibility, and having compassion for your fellow man.

But yet the history of the OP shows otherwise regarding support of American values.

Christian beliefs founded this nation and made it successful. It IS our culture and heritage. You are going to argue that it isn't our culture presently, but it IS the culture of Americans who built this nation and made it great as well as their progeny who still inhabit this nation. Whether other cultures have infiltrated this country and are represented here isn't germain.

Jesus
Right to Bear Arms
Right to Speak (but that being abused by anarchist right now)
Should be Al corrected to little/nontaxe and just be the world power and the citizens reap the rewards
Family
Loving and taking care of one another’s neighbors (but now a days, unless your in the country, that’s few and far behind).
I make it a point not to know my neighbors.

Our culture dates back to our colonies, and the various characters, rebellious individualism, deeply held faith, and experiences from Europe that caused us the luxury of going in a different direction from the one Europe was entrenched in but while still holding to the same fundamental aspiration of the west, freedom and personal liberty while keeping governments in check from running roughshod over the people in the process.
Those who had similar goals and aspirations gravitated here to be a part of it. All of those people created a very distinctive American Culture, and there’s truly nothing like it in this world. People who say ignorant stuff like America has no culture are just ignorant and foolish. We’re overflowing with it collectively as well as in regional cultures defined by food and settling influences. More locally, find anything even remotely as unique as New Orleans and I’ll be impressed. As Americans, and especially Southern Americans we are renowned the world over for our kindness, smiles, greeting strangers, as well as being loud and obnoxious at times, but definitely a people who are full of life. That is because regardless of what we see as problems in our country, most people elsewhere see America’s positive attitude and can do spirit in cutting a life out for themselves and the ability to move up in station in life because of what this country affords us all. People who feel hope and faith especially are generally going to be a more gregarious group than those who feel little to no hope of escaping their condition.
I’d suggest to anyone interested “Democracy in America” by Alexis de Tocqueville. He did an extensive look at America’s founding and culture early on. It used to be required reading in most universities, but not much if at all anymore from what I gather.

quote:The “New World” is half a millennium old, bro. We’ve been importing ingrediants and cuisines and blending them both together and with native American ingrediants since before half the current cuisines in Europe and elsewhere even existed. Barbecue, Cajun, Tex-Mex, soul food, American Chinese, Carolina Lowcountry, etc... are all American foods.
I would say a majority of our food culture is imported at this point. We do have some things that are home grown if course.
The entire developed world eats our food on a regular basis. Most of it is the worst kind from a health and quality standpoint and they shouldn't.
None of the cuisines we borrow from are pure either. They were blends of older ones too. How many centuries do we have to keep cooking before we’re allowed to call it our own food?

It is the Economic Freedom codified in the Constitution, and the competitive “9 to 5” society which springs from it. Not that the US is unique re this socio-economic enterprise towards survival and prosperity as witnessed in the historical record. Albeit note that Collectivist-based Socialism is currently seen as the most antithetical, morally critical, culturally/politically divisive and existentially threatening challenge to our Founding culture; as Socialism views Constitutional-based Capitalism as being selfish and therein morally corrupt. And even as true and relative ‘Freedom’ and affluence in our culture is obtained by having MONEY. Go figure.
While chasing money, I do find it somewhat ironic that a Nation which is supposedly based on Judeo-Christian Principle holds “the love of money” as its prime directive towards “the pursuit of happiness”, and the Freedom of the which our Constitutional Ethos purports to serve.
So color me confused as something seems incongruous, and the impending political based dogfight irrational. Maybe I ate too many mushrooms back when, or maybe I should eat some now, to understand. Regardless I think that AI will figure it out for us.
