We've had vote by mail in Colorado for 10+ years now. I live downtown so it's not a huge hassle to vote in person - my precinct is 2 blocks away. Here's what I love about mail voting though - I know how I'm going to vote for the big seats - president, governor, senator, etc. Who I don't really know are the judges, the city officers, etc. Voting by mail I can go through them and look up their history. If I'm in the booth it's just a list of names with no context.
Personally I don't feel CO has had any issues with voter fraud since moving to mail in voting. YMMV

Then early voting with ID for those that won’t be able to vote in person on Election Day. Absentee balloting should be reserved for the military only.

Precisely. The false narrative that we need more people voting is counterproductive at best and dangerous & irresponsible at worst.

Any person eligible to vote but couldn't pass the basic civics exam that prospective immigrants take as they work to earn their citizenship should be on the bench until they can clear that same hurdle as those incoming.

PARIS (AP) — Paper ballots tucked in paper envelopes. No absentee voting, and no early voting either. French voters in Sunday’s presidential election are using and old-school system that has defied calls for more flexibility or modernization.

As France’s 48.8 million voters are invited to choose between President Emmanuel Macron and his far-right challenger Marine Le Pen, here is a look at how the French election works:

HOW DO THEY CAST BALLOTS?
Voters make their choices in a booth, with the curtains closed, then place their ballot in an envelope that is then put into a transparent ballot box. They must show photo identification and sign a document, next to their name, to complete the process.

Dems would never allow this:

”a lot”= a couple hundred thousand tops

if its that important they can follow a prescribed set of rules to make sure they

(a) obtain an absentee ballot
(b) fill out the ballot properly and sign it
(c) deliver it to a designated polling place during business hours
(d) present legal ID that proves their eligibility to vote and that their signature matches

In almost 40 years of voting, its never been a problem.

They open early, stay open late.

Requiring an ID is racist. Apparently, black people don't know how to get an ID.

This is the message the Democrat party has sent for years.

There seems to be a strong push by conservatives for early or mail in voting
Two separate issues. The latter is a GOTV effort, and an acknowledgement that mail-in ballots are a legal reality for now. Given the choice, mail-ins should be significantly restricted. But restricting mail-ins is not a present choice.

Universal in-person balloting, voter ID, and non-OR code ballots are the least susceptible to fraud.

Because it's an asinine premise. There was no substantial voter fraud and this bullshite has been shot down over and over and over again.

Friendly advice - I wouldn't cite that kook. She's certifiable
Conspiracies aside, back to my original post, I believe there's something to be said about being able to sit down for an hour or 2 and look into the down ballot candidates

Nope...

You can do that prior to walking into the booth.

In person voting over a span of no more than 3 days or less. Ballots printed with security equal to that of a $100 bill.

Of course you can. The overwhelming majority don't though, myself included. Again, IMO, this is why mail in voting allows for a more informed voter

Land ownership and IRS tax return by males. It makes too much sense. If you pay a mortgage or own property, pay taxes and are a man, you vote. Errybody else, kick rocks. The country is back on track in 15 minutes.
