What makes trans people one of your main political issues?

I am not a trans fan either and definitely think they shouldn’t play women’s sports but they make up less than 1% of the general population. Why is MAGA so obsessed with them?
There are a lot bigger issues out there imo.

The left made it an issue. There were trans people before these culture wars really got going, they just weren't demanding things like using the wrong restroom, or competing in women's sports, or hosting childrens story hours and so on. That's when it became a problem. Hell, Kamala went so far as to say it was the civil rights issue of modern times.

Perhaps because they want special Federal Civil Rights Protections guaranteed to AAs in Federal Civil Right Laws.
Once they are recognized as a special protected class under Federal Law, they will then qualify for taxpayer-funded surgery to change genders, because, well, they are a protected class and we have to protect their Civil and Human Rights.
And once that is all etched in Federal Law Stone, the courts will zealously protect and advance these rights and privileges, which will extend to Corporations being forced to hire Trannys in order to comply with Federal Law protections.
THEN your normal son will be at a disadvantage to get ahead in life as the LadyBoys of the USA get accepted to college, get hired, get promoted, etc.
Do you really want the US Govt to go "all out" to make sure that Transexuals are one of the most prominent, prestigious and protected demographic groups here in our USA?
I mean, I really don't care because it's all going to end badly for normal people anyway, but, I'm just asking other people about this.

The whole issue needs to go back in the closet.
I, for one, am sick of sexual aberrations being flaunted in society. I am sick of having to celebrate mental illness. I am sick of them always being in my face. I am sick of having to look at them, they are disgusting freaks of nature.

Because it's an offensive and damaging assault on God's truth, scientific truth, health, fairness and well-being.
It's hard to imagine a politician sharing my view on trans, but having different views on other policies...so, I can't imagine a scenario where it would be a make or break political issue.

If you allow crazy people to pretend they are normal, and even give them preferred status you basically create more crazy people and really screw up your society.
Politicians are supposed to be working for the majority of the people. (you're never going to please everyone all the time) They also should try, (Try I said) not to marginalize the minority or the few.
In the last 10 years politicians have gone off the deep end chasing the approval of the smallest percentage to the demise of the majority.

You’re correct. Such a tiny fraction of the population that the discourse is not proportional and is unnecessary.
It doesn’t have to be so difficult to get common sense agreement on this.
Supporting trans people can still happen. Compassion for others.
