Social conservatism is embedded in and inseparable from the conservative movement. I do not think free markets and individual autonomy are strong enough to hold up against the countervailing forces of progressivism, and I think we're seeing that daily.

There is a big difference between advocating for people holding to certain ideals, beliefs, and cultural expectations and empowering government to fine or imprison individuals for moral failings. I simply do not trust government to be the enforcer of Christian values. I believe that to be the responsibility of individual citizens living and leading by example.

At the end of the day, government only has 1 carrot and 2 sticks to solve any problem: it can pay someone, tax/fine someone, or remove someone from society entirely. If one of those three is not the proper remedy for a given problem, then government should not be the entity trusted with resolving that problem.

In my opinion, most social issues really stem from economic issues more so than the other way around. If we can reverse the decades long trend of eroding economic prosperity for workers and families, many of the social issues resolve themselves.

I honestly see Project 2025 as a data harvesting campaign disguised as govt recruiting. I like the Heritage foundation but they have no authority to recruit for govt jobs and think they are possibly trying to capitalize on political emotions to create a data bank of information that would be very useful for all sorts of purposes.

What’s wrong with it is that it’s full of stuff that can be used against Trump in the campaign, so he wisely disavowed it. Trump is doing what winners do, he is moving to the center so he can capture the undecided voters.

BTW, Biden is doing the same thing. Why do you think he suddenly is enforcing the border? It’s not to stop illegals; he needs them to vote.

Not for libertarian minded folks. Many conservatives are quite all right with conservative fun police as they see it as the only way now to counter the left.

But the Trump administration could use/benefit from the information gathered on these supposed 50000 people to hire folks....right? Or do you think this is being done only for other purposes...like what?

I actually know a decent amount of conservative-Trump loving gays....one of them's boyfriend is from Cuba, OMG, HE FRICKING HATES DEMOCRATS! He calls them all Communists! His Mom and sister are.stuck in Cuba. (He is a little over-the-top though, he wishes Al-Quada would bomb the Democrat convention in Chicago in August)

Kind of. But for example, Biden was pressured this week to backtrack slightly on his WH statement on the transgender "treatment" of youth from a week or two ago. That's a very tiny, radical contingent of his party getting him to walk back a general election overture.

The crazies have major sway with the mainstream left, whereas Trump feels emboldened to cut the knees of out of conservatives trying to counterbalance the radical left and make no apologies for it because he thinks he has them over a barrel. He somewhat does, for now, but I don't think that model for the new MAGA RNC is going to be sustainable.

They are a conservative think tank. They've been around for a very long time. Republican candidates have picked up their suggested policies at times, but a la carte, not carte blanche.

None of this should be new or confusing information to people who supposedly follow politics.

Of course, I was just pointing out some information that was posted previously. I really think a lot is still up in the air right now.

Recommendations!

Recommendations for Trump and his team.

I seriously doubt if Trump and his team embark on all the agenda. Allies yes. But not Trump's puppet masters. A big difference for those interested in truth.

Nothing wrong with it if you're a Cheney or Romney type conservative that wants to impose neocon social values on the populace. Trump has made it clear it is not his agenda.

There’s no way I’m submitting any personal data to any site that’s basically saying “we’re looking for a list of uber conservatives that want to reform govt”.

And I really like the work the Heritage Foundation generates.
