it's not about homicide and suicide. it's about mass shootings
You should ask why some political groups are so hyper-focused on "solving" a non-existent "problem".

You know damn well you wouldn’t use a shotgun for a mass shooting.
And yet they were used in approximately 13% of mass shootings (semi auto rifles is behind hand guns at 25%).

Ok. Tell us about how you’d fire off two hundred rounds from a shotgun in a restaurant.

Can you explain why one innocent person killed by a gun is different than another innocent person killed by a different gun?

The kid who perpetrated the Santa Fe (Texas) school shooting used a 12-gauge shotgun.

It's step one. They need to crawl before they try to outright ban guns.

you are correct but it is not for the reason you think.

Iirc, Columbine as well

It’s an easier first step for them.

A shotgun can arguably do far more damage in less time, depending on circumstances. Especially in a setting like a crowded classroom or restaurant, etc
The goal isn't to stop random shootings. The goal is to restrict your ability to organize to fight an oppressive police state.
Look at what is going on in England with Brexit and in Hong Kong.
The objective is you vote however you want, we'll rule however we want.

Real-world scenario:
Scenario 1. Mass-shooter has 10 x 30-round magazines (300 rounds total) and is highly skilled at changing mags.
Scenario 2. Mass-shooter has 30 x 10-round magazines (300 rounds total) and is highly skilled at changing mags.
Assuming mag swaps take approx 3-4 seconds, would the shooter be less successful in Scenario 2 by taking his eye off the ball for 3-4 second stretches?? Would the extra cumulative time needed to change out mags in Scenario 2 have a material difference?

Their strategy is to ban rifles, which are the weapon best suited for defense against an oppressive government.
You just proved OP wrong with this statement. If it's the best defense then it's obviously more dangerous than a shotgun.

Go to a gun range and fire a hundred rounds from an AR-15. Then try that with a shotgun.
I’m not sure you understand how a “SHOT-GUN” works

Because the evil ar-15 will allow them to open up the slippery slope to allowing bans on firearms until they are all banned.

I wonder if the lefties have any idea how many of these scary rifles are in circulation? It isn’t like owning an AR-15 is some rare weird thing... it is the most popular semi-automatic rifle in the country. They are chambered in many different calibers and are used by thousands of kids to get introduced to big game hunting.
