If you were to visit anywhere in the Soviet Union, you would understand that their whole economy was one state regulated defense industry. There are whole towns in the Soviet Union that have become depopulated as a result of this. Consumer goods were not a priority and both defense and consumer goods were sub-par as a result of a centralized economy preparing for war and based on a militaristic model.
There are a lot of factors that contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union, but they were not focused on defense for shits and giggles, they were focused on securing and expanding their empire. The Soviet Union spent billions on the war in Vietnam, billions they could not afford.

Agreed. Life long communists like Obama have always dreamed of killing capitalist America...you know....for the greater good. How do you destroy capitalism in a country?? Destroy the economy with unsustainable debt and interest. How would one do that? Double the debt and let it piss away, confident in what fate lies somewhere down the road.

Yes. I was concerned during the Bush years as well.
And I attribute a lot of the debt accumulated this century to Bush.

I guess if we’re going to track debt accumulation as a sign of communist infiltration we’re going to have to indict quite a few gov officials from the past 30 years into the present on both sides of the aisle.
