The best golf courses in the world are in the desert!
Computer program has 26 recorded days of rain totaling 14 inches since August 1 on my course. It’s a quagmire out there!

There is an ESPN app I used when I lived in the EU. ESPN Player I think? 8 years ago so there may be something better.
The birds have great golf etiquette, they stop chirping when the players are hitting!

Hidden Creek in Navarre…fun course!

This course has so much potential given the lack of quality competition for public golf. Abita has closed, Royal should close…there is no quality public golf close. CCC is a cash cow waiting for proper mangement!

I’ve thought about opening one near Mandeville, but the whole money and time thing always brings me back to earth.

I wonder if land is available to do a first class range/ short game area?

1968 LSU vs. Texas A&M coached by Gene Stallings…..sat behind the Tiger bench in the old field level box seats.
I lived and worked there for 4 years. Great place and great people! Former British rule until the early 70’s and many Brit retirees. I had the time of my life and have many life long friends there.

Spent quite a bit of time in Positano/Capri Amalfi Coast area….Bargain hotel is L’Ancora and is right next to Le Serinuse ….try to book a room with balcony.
Ristorarante recs….you can have hotel arrange free van to take you to Il Ritrovo, way up the mountain in Montepertuso…views are fantastic . Sal also has a cooking class there.
If you are adventurous you can take the local bus up to Nocelle….best views on the coast.
Ravello is a quite town above Amalfi…Villa Cimbrone is a nice tour with old gardens and a beautiful view from the Belvedere. Mama Cosimo’s is a great ristorante if they are still open after the pandemic.
Do not miss Capri and do an overnite stay to enjoy the charm of the island when most of the tourist crowds leave. I also enjoyed Ischia, another island off the Naples coast.

Cane Row in New Iberia had less than 1 inch of rain during the entire storm with zero trees down. A few limbs here and there but really dodged a bullet in this storm.
I went through Hurricane Opal in 1995 in Florida Panhandle where we had 2,000 trees down. I feel for the courses that got hit hard by this storm. It is a lot of work to get a course back after a major hurricane.

It isn’t Ellendale’s budget either, trust me! Some of you people here think if you go to JC Penney and buy a suit it is comparable with Battistoni in Rome……Geniuses!
Cane Row is half way into their second growing season. If there has been more improvement in a course given the same budget, I want to see it! Take that and put in your pipe and smoke it.

26 inches of rain in the past 30 days ........everyone has perfect greens now Einstein
It is sometimes better to keep your mouth shut and be labeled a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt! :spank:

The course drains very good.....with the exception of a few holes and we had some great drying conditions this afternoon. 50% chance of rain thru Monday is the last forecast I saw.....but hoping for the best. If we miss a few rains we may have carts off the paths on most holes by Friday. Thank you for the nice comments.

re: What does this freeze mean for courses down here?
Posted by RMGC on 2/17/21 at 11:53 am to leblanc272
I have been a Super for 42 years and was in Florida in 1989 when we had the ground freeze for over 120 hours. This resulted in most every Bermuda green suffering from sever winter kill from Tallahassee to Houston. The vast majority of the courses replanted greens the upcoming summer. What made that event so devastating was the dry winds during the 5 day freeze.
This freeze was not a dry freeze so this reduces winter kill severity but some disease issues associated with colder temps comes into play.
We really don’t know what we will face but I am optimistic for the courses in the Southern part of the state.

Italian is an ongoing project for me..........but if you live there you catch on faster......Geaux for it :)
