He did, probably at least 60-70 times in his daily COVID press conferences.

Birx and Fauci aren't exactly coat-wearing MAGAs...

Sorry for your loss but wtf does your friend have to do with politicians wanting to use skewed data to shut down the economy? You think your friend would be alive today if HRC were president? No. He'd still be dead and his family would likely be without health insurance or jobs to carry on with their lives.

So spare me your anecdotes. We are discussing a problem of global scale.

COVID will not end with a change of "directorship". Infectious diseases do not conform to the dictates of political leaders.

I’m talking about elected officials to head off the partisanship.
It was literally a gift politically but he really botched it

You're ignorant. That's exactly what he did. Fauci has been in government since the late 1960s. Been appointed to positions by both republican and democrat presidents and bureaucrats. Birx... also appointed to various positions by administrations of both parties. Though, she's "only" been in government since the 80s.

So... unless you're suggesting Trump should have searched for people with far less government and public health experience, I can't understand what your beef is here.

And Hillary would have had the same staff, btw. No way she was firing any of those people or the bureaucratic leadership of the CDC and FDA.

Congress can't even decide on how much money to give away, right before an election. You think they're going to handle COVID policy effectively?

My SiL insists he claimed it was a hoax, so there's that.

I tend to lean the other direction in that I think the Feds shouldn't have done anything at all. The only thing the Feds should have done is sue these states that implemented shutdowns and suspended civil liberties.

Calling it a hoax and saying it would magically go away was the only thing hes done wrong and made it easy to pounce on him for it

This “pandemic” is a lie. It’s been planned to get you used to complying with government orders. They also want to collapse our economy. The “globalist” will get their one world government, they don’t give a rip about you or me.

Better vote Trump as a stop gap to give us a little more time.

Trump did as well as any president could. The governors and mayors in democrat cities and states killed the economy in those states and were ultimately responsible for how Covid was handled in those states. No natter what Trump did he was and is criticized. The original goal was to flatten the curve, went that was accomplished the goal became eliminate the virus (per Biden and Dems) likely an impossible goal, Covid will be with us like the flu and common cold, we have to learn to live with it.

No other POTUS would have done things differently. Trump did one better by closing travel from China and then Europe but he should have honestly done it earlier.
None of it matters because all you can do with lockdowns and masks is prolong the inevitable. I get we needed to make sure hospitals don't get overloaded but let's not act like if Hillary was POTUS that she would be shutting down the economy during an election year. They'd be preaching the same common sense as us.
