Federal law makes it illegal to “solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation” from a foreign national. The question of whether or not the president ran afoul of that law certainly seems in play in light of what we saw in the transcript.
If that’s what you took from the transcript, then you’re functionally illiterate.

Asking another country to help with a criminal investigation after a corrupt politico bragged about getting someone who was investigating the OBVIOUS CRIMINAL ACTIVITY of his cokehead son fired is now a crime???
Even YOU cannot be THAT F*CKING STUPID.

I have a coworker that has TDS and said the other day he needs to be in jail. I asked for which crime specifically and he couldn’t come up with one.

He has an (R) behind his name. In the minds of the DNC, MSM, and other Progressive filth... THAT is a crime.

I got so sick of hearing the candidates spew this crap last night... I think my wife got sick of me pausing the dvr and going off on them last night. I had to turn it off around 30 mins in. Didn't even see the part about guns. Thanks goodness.
They kept saying
Criminal
Malfeasons
Lawlessness
Somebody should make them explain themselves. What crime?
and also, Biden is a fricking joke.

They have been searching since 2015.

Pointing out crimes and racketeering by former administrations is the only crime in their minds. He has broken the code of the deep state and they will not stand for that.

1. He won
2. He's orange
3. He's a man
4. He's bad
IOW, he's a bad orange man who won.
The best answer by far.

THIS!!! If a law school needed the quintessential example of a quid pro quo arrangement, it would be the Biden video!!
THE ACTION DEMANDED: Fire the prosecutor.
THE TIMEFRAME: Within 6 hours.
THE THREAT: "You're not getting the $1B [in financial aid]."
THE RESULT: Prosecutor fired within 6 hours.
Of all the double standards we've seen from the MSM over the past 3 years, this one is making me pull my hair out. THERE CANNOT POSSIBLY BE A MORE OBVIOUS SMOKING GUN.

The question of whether or not the president ran afoul of that law certainly seems in play in light of what we saw in the transcript. For purposes of this statute, a “contribution or donation” is defined as “money” or another “thing of value.” So a prosecution of Trump would hinge upon whether the opposition research Trump sought on Biden constitutes such a “thing of value.” Barr and Giuliani, meanwhile, could be considered accomplices in Trump’s effort to obtain opposition research from Ukraine’s president.
Where is the evidence of this occurring? They've investigated the frick out of him, using bias, corrupt CIA and lies and shite. FOR 3 YEARS!
Put the evidence in front of me. Surely they have something since that's all you frickers still talk about.
3 YEARS, where's the evidence???
It took LESS THAN A WEEK for Trump to sink Biden with evidence of his wrong doing. LESS THAN A WEEK.
Why can't evidence of Trump's drastic illegal activity be presented after 3 YEARS of investigating?
Plain, simple truth? Democrats/liberals are piece of shite liars and have no idea how to do anything.

So if an opposition candidate does something illegal, would evidence of that crime be a “thing of value” to the president? Is the president thus prevented from investigating crimes because doing so would be personally helping his own campaign?

Good thing you are not representing real people. That provision would apply if Trump were soliciting the Ukrainian President in the course of the campaign. But, Donald Trump is also POTUS and because of the duties laid out for him in Art 2 of the US Constitution and numerous case law and decisions, POTUS has wide latitude in dealing with foreign leaders. The fact that he calls the Ukrainian President from the White House and not the Executive Office building is HUGE.
Also if there is proven to be an active investigation going on in Ukraine prior to the call , there is a treaty between us and them in regards to this. Thus Trump's request is entirely appropriate. Also I don't know why a quid pro quo in this instance is a bad thing......it's not illegal

Most people that suggest wrongdoing are pointing to:
U.S. Code §?30121.Contributions and donations by foreign national
(a)Prohibition - It shall be unlawful for—
(1)a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make—
(A)a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election;
(B)a contribution or donation to a committee of a political party; or
(C)an expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication (within the meaning of section 30104(f)(3) of this title); or
(2)a person to solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of paragraph (1) from a foreign national.
(b)“Foreign national” defined - As used in this section, the term “foreign national” means—
(1)a foreign principal, as such term is defined by section 611(b) of title 22, except that the term “foreign national” shall not include any individual who is a citizen of the United States; or
(2)an individual who is not a citizen of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 1101(a)(22) of title 8) and who is not lawfully admitted for permanent residence, as defined by section 1101(a)(20) of title 8.
(Pub. L. 92–225, title III, §?319, formerly §?324, as added Pub. L. 94–283, title I, §?112(2), May 11, 1976, 90 Stat. 493; renumbered §?319, Pub. L. 96–187, title I, §?105(5), Jan. 8, 1980, 93 Stat. 1354; amended Pub. L. 107–155, title III, §§?303, 317, Mar. 27, 2002, 116 Stat. 96, 109.)
Essentially, if you believe that he was requesting they conduct opposition research by asking them to investigate Biden, that would constitute a violation of the law referenced above.

Kamala Harris explained it yesterday. She said the impeachment will be quick because Trump already confessed.
So, what did he confess to? Talking on the phone to the Ukraine. Therefore, talking on the phone to the Ukraine is a crime. Got it now?
