The members of Westboro need to be burned in a fire.

But the WBC is not just unpopular - it is taunting - out of place - irrelevant to the event it is uttered at. It is on a par with shouting 'FIRE' in a crowded theatre.

WBC 'speech' is not designed to be dialog - not supposed to be argumentative - it is designed for one thing only - to taunt a captive audience into an emotional riot.

If they just got out on the side of the road with their nonsense, it would be 'unpopular' but could be easily ignored. But they go to a captive audience at a funeral where the people are mourning a private tragedy to do their evil shite.

There should be something to legalize shutting them down.

While I don't agree with a law that cites them in particular, I do agree with SpidermanTuba that there should be an exclusion to the first amendment that makes their one-trick-pony schtick illegal.

Didn't their founder recently pass away? They went out of their way to have a private service so they wouldn't get a taste of their own medicine.

I will say this on that. There is a right to free speech and assembly. There is also a right to privacy. One should not out weigh the other and this would allow for a stay or restraining order against both parties so that neither could interfere with the other. I am certain that the folks attending Robin Williams funeral would have no qualms about staying away from Westboro's church.

Seems to me the Williams family has the financial means to make it as physically uncomfortable for those morons as possible.

And they should.

I thought when Phelps died that would be the last we'd hear of this bunch. Guess I was wrong.

The Governor should be at the funeral with a stack of blank pardons...just in case they might be needed.

And here you are giving them exactly what they want. Congrats on being a sucker. Want to buy a bridge?

Maybe since RW played such a great role in Good Morning Vietnam the Patriot Guard will handle this situation. WBC has learned that when it comes to the rolling thunder of The Patriot Guard and the wall they put up, all of their protests go unheard and they are not even seen by the mourners.

Ahh right. Infidel beheading Muslims aren't Muslims either I suppose. To avoid a double standard of course.

They won't get anywhere near the actual funeral, as it will no doubt be very private, as it should be. Hopefully, the general public in the area will express their right to free speech too. But I am wondering if they made the IRS's shite list, too, as a policitalized church group?
