Weight loss drug prices slashed

It's not that simple. Some people cannot exercise.
For some people, they can't exercise because they don't exercise.

I was guilty of that. Too tired from lugging around too much weight. Used that as an excuse for too long. One day, almost exactly a year ago, my attitude flipped and I just 100% committed and started exercising. One year later, today I am 56# lighter w/o drugs.

Exercise is very important. But if these folks are obese, they need to get about 75 - 100 pounds off first. They go straight into exercise that fat, they will surely get a sports injury and that will just cause more problems. If they get that weight off and then don't start exercising and changing their diet, well that is on them.

Jury is still out on side effects of all these GLP-1 injections......reports of some having intestinal paralysis, etc. which may be irreversible. Most short-cuts in life come with side effects. It's always scary when it seems half the people you come into contact with these days are on GLP-1 injections. My neighbor died within a year after having started Mounjaro for diabetes & weight loss.

After my college football days I swore I’d stay in shape and not get fat. I’m not ripped but I can still do 30” box jumps with ease and I stay active as much as I can. The secret to weight loss is diet anyways. Every girl that asks me if she should get that fat shot thing I say hell no just eat better and walk 10,000 steps a day and you’ll get to your ideal weight.

The gym rats that completely melt down on this site about GLP-1’s and “cheating” is fricking comedy gold to me.

continue with your drugs that are going to cause you gastroparesis and give you cancer though

Lol I've never tried any of those drugs, I just eat healthy and enjoy calling out shitty arguments like yours. My cousin has had permanent vision loss from Ozempic, I'm well aware of the side effects.

There's a reason the saying goes "abs are made in the kitchen" though. And I don't want anyone reading to think that they can outwork a bad diet

It is taken for diabetes as well. There are people who need this medicine to maintain their diabetes. A lot of those individuals do not have insurance. This is YUGE for them.
I don't have a moral problem with the GLP-1 drugs, but in the vast majority of cases "their diabetes" is caused by their habits and can also be reversed without drugs.

I am 43, have had 3 kids, have had a hypothyroid since I had my first baby 23 years ago, my hormones are out of whack and I can work out twice a day, starve myself or go to the other end and try to only eat clean/healthy and STILL gain weight. Do you know how annoying it is???? I am not fat by any means but I could stand to lose 25 lbs lol and literally can not no matter what I do.
There's no doubt it gets harder as you get older, but I'm confident you could design a program that didn't have you 25lbs overweight.

I don't think it would require starvation, but let's still put it this way: if you were on Survivor, with certainty, you would lose weight no matter how screwed up your hormones were.

It is way too early to see the net impact on health and insurance costs. We may be trading obesity for skyrocketing cancer rates or other issues since these drugs have no long term risk studies.
That's not really true. They've been well studied for over 20 years.

With everything or just losing weight? Because if we are talking everything then that's the stupidest thing I have heard on here in at least a week. Quit eating is the easiest way. If you don't eat for 10 days and only drink water you will lose a lot of weight really fast. Not very safe in my opinion but it even more effective than these pills.

Starvation is even more dangerous than taking these drugs. Also starvation would most likely affect you hormone production, so.

No one on this board needs weight loss drugs. Their BMI is high because they played 2A football in 1997

Um, I was 4A in 1986.

Anyone else remember spaghetti, bananas, honey, etc. as a pre-game meal?

Everything. The easy way is never the best way. Fasting for 10 days in not easy and it is not the best. Please name one thing that the "easy" way would be considered the "best" way.
To me
Stealing is the easy way to get money, not the best way.
Steroids is the easy way to get big muscles, not the best way.
Plastic surgery is the easy way to change your physical appearance, not the best way.
Lying about abilities/experience is the easy way to get a higher paying job, not the best way.

So in your theory nobody needs hip surgeries. Go meet some people and stop generalizing. These drugs are a great help to society and they lower the burden on the public dollar.

These drugs often make people less healthy. Most people I know that use them look terrible. All their muscles are gone. Still alot of fat.
