This argument always left me scratching my head. As if they would be unable to simply recruit pilots from neighboring countries to fly their stuff before eventually sending their own for training.

yeah there was no way to predict the Afghan military would quickly collapse when we suddenly pulled their air support and private contractors maintaining all their equipment. There was just no way to see that coming at all.
