American journalists frame questions the EXACT same way. Create a straw man, toss it on the back of the political figure, then ask said political figure to justify the straw man.
You could look at almost 100% of the questions asked of Trump, and they'll begin with some tripe like, "Many people would say that your rhetoric....blah blah blah racist, sexist, blah blah... What do you say to those people?"

He was much too kind.
Journalists and the Media should be treated like shite at every chance.
Mock them, bully them, make them feel uncomfortable.
The Media are the enemy.

Disagree. He handled this perfectly.

When you challenge the premises of their questions,
they got nothing.
they got nothing.

This is the silly state of journalism in the world. What's funny is when he says "forget that, why should Canadians trust you with their vote"................that's when he actually asked a damned journalists question.
But no. They always have to do some variation of, "given that many think you're a rapist, why should women date you" kind of shite.

That’s everything The West needs right now.

You would think that they would at least have an example or two even if they were absurd examples but the genius basically babbled.
The left is so used to only being in the room with other lefties, they just think you can state things as if they're completely uncontested viewpoints.
"Muh insurrection" is a great example.

This is how its done... They cant give examples. The echo chambers dont do examples and specifics.
WHen they venture out, they usually frick around and find out... Then retreat back to their safe space

Exactly. Humor, sarcasm and mockery go a lot further than protesting.
Mel Brooks believed this way regarding racism. He believed if you mocked the N word, it would go out of style and lose power.
Democrats sure have changed.

I think he was perfect. The problem with your preferred approach is that approach tends to make the story completely about your treatment of the media, rather than your policies and accomplishments. While your preferred approach might be fun and occasionally appropriate, if you aren't careful that becomes all you are/all people hear.
Pierre Poilievre in this clip accomplished both a brutal takedown of the reporter (without the need for a single ad hominem schoolyard name called, which it turns out made the takedown even MORE effective) and still leaves the viewer/listener with the meat and potatoes of "I'm going to make your paycheck worth something again so you can pay your mortgage and buy food."
This is how it should be done. With calm, smart, logical dialogue that will cause the douchebag journalist to expose himself for the shill that he is.
Of course this is more difficult and takes more intellect and preparation than just calling someone a name.

exactly, if he went off on them and was right
the story would still be that he is a mean man lol

Reminds me of another young, actually conservative, candidate down here that does the exact same thing to reporters.
But he eats pizza funny, so nah...

Couldn’t disagree more. His air of casual competence and directness was infinitely more impactful than childish name calling.

Why didn't he just ask the final question instead of dripping all of those catch phrases to begin with?
Because he was attempting to hide his actual question which was a personal dislike for Poilievre in a question which gave the appearance that EVERYONE felt the same way.
"many people say."
"it's said that"
"Sometimes you say things like"
Once you hear it, the type of unpackaging needs to be done EVERY TIME. Make them answer all the specifics. "Which people? Who said that? When did I say that and what exactly did I say?
Eventually they'll tire of the game and ask a direct question, or they'll whine and then you can point to their childishness.

It's easy when you know how.
"Some people say you're a racist."
Some people cut themselves for pleasure. So what? The idea that because, "some people" say something gives a statement credibility is nonsense. It's like saying, "9 out of 10 dentists prefer ____ toothpaste."
We all know these aren't objective sources. The media carefully edits and attempts to craft a narrative that supports their biggest financiers. And in the absence of controversy, they will sensationalize and run pure tabloid stories in the midst of journalism to sweeten the lede.
We've allowed the wrong people to control the media for too long.
