The funny thing is, it was probably someone having a chuckle when they put the information into the database. This stuff was never meaningfully audited, but it doesn't look good. The US government needs to stay out of public media financially. Period.

We can all thank Obama for repealing the Smith-Mundt act for letting that particular tiger out of the cage.

Unlike Musk, they know the true intention on the contract. I’m pretty glad Trump’s DoD took part in this.

Per ChatGPT
quote:

While DARPA's programs like Large-Scale Social Deception (LSD) and Active Social Engineering Defense (ASED) are often confidential due to their sensitive nature—especially considering their potential military and intelligence applications—information about them sometimes leaks, either intentionally or accidentally.

In this case, the $9.1 million contract awarded to Thomson Reuters Special Services for the LSD program was revealed through reporting, and while not all details about the program are publicly disclosed, the contract itself became a matter of public record. This isn't uncommon for government-funded projects, as contracts often have transparency requirements. However, the full scope of the program, including its specific objectives and the full list of collaborators, would likely remain under wraps.

No argument here.. Just wondering why Reuters?

I'm sure they were paying AP too. Those are the two big news agitators and disseminators. All other news outlets pick up and spread AP and Reuters stories. They paid the originators of the news. I'm sure they were paying select downstream outlets, as well.

Just because some of money was spent during his administration doesn’t mean he authorized it, knew about it, permitted it.

That’s the entire point of what they are doing now. Auditing these agencies and locking down the flow of money that is not being used to further his administration. The whole reason we are at this point today is because Trump is tired of rogue bureaucrats spending money in a way that his administration does not support.

Folks can’t have it both ways…be outraged that Trump is locking this kind of stuff down today…but at the same time claim he’s responsible for $ that goes out the door during his administration.

It makes sense why the press is the way they are. Not just in ideology, but they were paid for that ideology.

You bring up good points with your last posts and the knee jerk reaction is to downvote you.

Combatting social engineering is not the same as social media censorship.

It could be a program to combat China/Russia/Iran from using social engineering to hack into company systems.

This is a cyber security issue.

Also, pretty sure that Thomson Reuters (the company that received the grant) is not just "Reuters media outlet".

Thomson Reuters owns CLEAR which is a data firm that works with law enforcement and security.

It could be related to that.

As always, every single post like OP should be scrutinized for facts before jumping immediately to rage.

It is disappointing that Elon is so quick to retweet shite.

Nothing will change the minds of the perpetually outraged but if you want to win the battle with the broad middle you have to have your shite together.
