Places you drive to in Germany are a helluva lot closer than places we drive to in the U.S.

Even after the Wall came down, East Germany is still a shithole compared to West Germany. Even though they are one country, people in the West earn more than those in the East.

I mean, the South is just now recovering from the Civil War and ending slavery.

So do we. That's why Trump demanded that Europe start pulling their own weight.

If Germany understands the importance of NATO, then why have they not been paying their fair share for what amounts to their defense?

Why have they let their military decline while depending on the US to protect them?

About $8.17 per gallon roughly converting.

Certainly you have some ,but there are some good ole German baws. Many tourists don't go outside the city and it I fairly similar with an Urban/Rural division.

they don't fight wearing masks

Not true there were protests two/three times a week where I live. Had several incidents in stores and elsewhere.

don't have gun violence

Das ist falsch. My wife was in the area when a shooter in Munich took 9 lives at a McDonald's and they had a mass shooting in Duisberg a few weeks ago. There are plenty of shootings here that doesn't get international attention here.

I don't know who you are talking to ,but they are either talking to an idiot or a leftist that lives in a major city.

If US. Shut down military bases in Germany they would give. The US has their own resort in Germany for military personnel.

A light bulb just went off in my head. Random thought I know...

I have been wondering why Putin is doing what he's doing in Ukraine.

What he's doing in Ukraine will result in a larger, expanded NATO.

NATO is a drain on the US, as it is currently operated.

Provoke NATO into expansion = weaker USA.

Putin the chess master?

I bet they do because they dont have a military to speak of. If NATO wasnt there there wouldnt be anything to stop Russia from rolling over them. And Russia is having trouble with Ukraine... Germany would be a cake walk.

The collective stupidity of a significant portion of the electorate will eventually catch up with America. Evidence of this you say? A dumbass career politician who can't seem to comprehend the damage he is doing to this country now occupies the Oval Office. Blames everything and everybody but himself.

We now have irrefutable evidence the 2020 Presidential Election was stolen, but the people who could have confronted this theft did nothing. A curse on all their houses.

It was a good run......246 Years.

It's been my experience that Euros, in general, have reconciled themselves to accepting a lower standard of living.

This.

I realized this after reading reviews of a resort in the BVI and then visiting it. All the Euros said how fantastic it was. Americans gave it a thumbs up, but weren’t as glowing as Europeans.

I went. I discovered quickly that Europeans are conditioned to accept a much lower standard in facilities and service and excuse bad facilities and service. Maybe this is a result of lower standards of living during and after WW2 and the socialization of their care-taker economies and governments while the USA paid for their defense. Who knows.
