Poor MSM.

Poor, poor MSM.

They just needed time. It would have been ok. They didn't REALLY mean to slander those kids. They would have trumpeted the vindicating evidence (that they had the whole time) just as loudly as the initial reports if not for, you know, getting POUNCED on by Trump people who had facts and shite on their side.

They just needed more time.

I mean, that McDonald's in the White House (ZOMG MOST RACIST THING WE'VE EVER SEEN) story was just tying up so many resources.

How the frick did anyone expect the MSM to be able to swivel to Chief Tappity Tap confronting young Joey Logano?

It's our fault, really. We asked for too much.

Also want to point out the particular wording. "Pounced". That's a media buzzword you see for any conservative vocalizations on an issue.

For Democrats its "critics are responding"... when its conservatives we "pounce" or "seize".

They don’t. Every major statistic on the matter shows trust in media declining.

Overworked media now equals making up stories from thin air now I guess.

A couple of things that are interesting here to me

1. This wasn't really worthy of being a story for the MSM to bother with. It's only now really a relevant story because of how bad they botched it. Maybe they'll learn to not dive into every little thing that happens on the internet.

2. It sounds as if they're acknowledging (foolishly I might add) a huge tactical disadvantage. If people can verify the veracity of the events on their own (or rather crowd sourced if you will) then the media is rendering themselves largely irrelevant. I'd say it's a huge error in judgment to say that you can't keep up if it's your job to keep up.

They just told us out loud that their model of reporting is inferior and obsolete.

I'd say it's highly likely this is an idea spawned from a female brain.

Wow that's so true. Unless they can control the environment, they risk not being able to fully manipulate the facts. This one got out of their control because everyone has a camera and broadened the scope beyond the story the MSM wanted to tell.

MSM is so lost.

They still think they are Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite and people only have two or three options to get their news.

Who is proping up the NY Times and WaPo? Artificially funding them like the NBA to the WNBA...I thought newspapers were all supposed to be dead by now?

Most are...but you still have the most liberal rags ever invented still thriving. WaPo, NY Times, LA Times and Daily Hoax.

Soros? Is that you? You silly rabbit, squandering your money on a lost cause.

They know their influence is weakening with the widespread availability of information and alternative outlets on the internet. It's why giants like NBC have invested heavily in online presences like Buzzfeed and Vox while they also go after the credibility of small online news platforms.

The media has been at a disadvantage since the internet came into its own. They know it, it's one of the reasons they race to get stories out first and shape the narrative. And why they quickly abandon stories that don't match their false reporting once the true facts are known. It's also why they attempted to paint non-mainstream media outlets as fake news. Of course, Trump shoves that right up their asses.
