It's actually an official term used to describe Veterans of the Vietnam War.
Which is just more proof that phillips is claiming he served in the Vietnam war.

He lied about being a "recon ranger". Therefore he lied about his military service. He claimed to be something he is not. Please dispute this statement.

Yet the video clearly shows him saying hes a vet of the time
And he's also stated flat out that he was a Vietnam Vet and has been posted several times on here.

I would love to see this guy's SRB, Dd214 or anything really. 72 wasn't a lifetime ago. Still good records keeping from those times.

When did he claim he fought in Vietnam?
Oh come off it. Let's not pretend he didn't regularly invoke Vietnam to lend gravitas to his service. Most civilians don't know the difference between "Vietnam vet" and "Vietnam era vet." Phillips knew this and has been willingly obtuse to reap the social benefits of the respect most Americans nowadays automatically have dir anyone who served in Vietnam. This shite isn't difficult to figure out.
I don't get worked up over "stolen valor" or anything, but at least call this for what it is.

Only he didn't. Only misquotes from MSM sources. The lone video shows him clearly stating himself as a Vietnam "times" vet.

It is clear Phillips is trying to give the impression he served in Vietnam without directly making the claim. Look at his careful choice of words.
This.

They are actually the same meaning.

Here’s a group of people who were angry at somebody else and I put myself in front of that, and all of a sudden, I’m the one whose all that anger and all that wanting to have the freedom to just rip me apart, that was scary. And I’m a Vietnam veteran and I know that mentality of “There’s enough of us. We can do this.”

You know, when I was in Vietnam times and when I was in the Marine Corps times, that's what I was. I was expendable

They were there looking for trouble, looking for something. Everybody knows the right to life and (pro-choice), it’s been like this and they’re hateful to each other. And it’s because I’m a veteran — I’m a Vietnam veteran — that these two groups even have the right in this country to have protests, to have conflicting opinions.

Sure, so would I. But I also know he claimed to a position that straight up doesn't exist. When he says "I was a recon ranger" in an interview, I don't need a 214 to tell me that's a lie. It's like saying, "I played power forward on the football team."

If a Vietnam era vet wants to label himself that then that's fine. I certainly wouldn't call it stolen valor like most are doing.
It doesn’t surprise me that you think that would be fine.
You have no concept of honor or integrity.

In the meantime, let's not pretend that this cat hasn't been using "Vietnam" to shape folks' opinion of his military service. He's not the first to do it and won't be the last, but call it what it is.

I know but not in layman's terms. Sorry, I was unclear.

We need to call Dick Blumenthal. I'm sure he can vouch for this guy's service in Vietnam

I know what you are saying, but to squash the argument here I am bringing in both official terms used.
Whether Phillips uses Vietnam Era Veteran or Vietnam Veteran, he is making the same claim. Both terms are used by the Dept of Veteran Affairs to describe those who served in Vietnam.
Bottom line, he lied.

I've seen entire airports full of people give standing ovations to military coming from boot camp. Get off that garbage.

I replied directly to the "stolen valor" bullshite. This isn't stolen valor unless someone wants to point out where he claimed to have spent time in Vietnam.

I will stick up for a Marine when bitches like HHtM run their mouths about stolen valor. You should, too.
