What does it say about companies like wal-mart that are more concerned with tariffs than politicians threatening them with going after price gouging.

Deficit spending during times of full employment (-5%) are a stimulus, they stimulate the economy.

When done at full employment, its called "overheating the economy"

Yeah, when you’re getting most of your sh!t from f*cking China.then it’s going to impact your bottom line. The problem with Walmart is they won’t be able to raise prices because they were already charging as though these products were made in America.

So, too, does it when our 3 letter agencies and govt can just tell us they've "lost track" of TRILLIONS spent.

People need to be drawn and quartered, but here you are worried about continuing to lose our trade war with China.

If true, you would lose most exports

Absolutely this, it can be used in tandem with other countries against bad actors like China. Even just the threat of them can get them in line.

2016 -2020 proved your theory wrong. We had deficit spending, Tariffs, and low inflation of 1.8%. Inflation didn't happen until we let 15 million illegal aliens into the country and gave them EBT cards for food and free housing. Not to mention the increased cost for insurance because they drive around without any. Your theory has been totally debunked by 2016 -2020 data.

At least 400 estimates on Trump’s proposed tariffs show they will have a positive effect on the American economy, supporting the standard view among economists that tariffs increase domestic production, leading to higher standards of living.

I'm old enough to remember when Walmart's selling point was "Made in the USA".

The government was funding by tariffs until what WWII? Lemming like you love daddy taking all of your money and blindly giving it away to other countries. Time for the other countries to step up and pay for our consumer dollar. If it raises prices a bit but lowers taxes and/or brings back jobs, do it.

Where was the Inflation during 2016-2020. We had Tariffs then.

We did, and according to the Tax Foundation they cost consumers extra money, they caused a net loss of American manufacturing jobs, and they caused American businesses to lose market share.

And that increased as Biden expanded the tariffs during his term (which is what is so stupid about the left acting like this is some brand new thing now—both parties are doing this).

And the expanded tariffs this time will increase those negative effects even more.

Everyone here who supports these tariffs sees them as a medium to long range plan to force trading partners to capitulate (either that or to drive import prices up to the point that the same products can be produced here...they better hope hat doesn't actually happen, though, or we'll be paying 50% more for many things than we are right now).

But if that's the case, if the benefit is to out-tariff China, et, al., you've got to accept this for what it is. It's a game of candle-chicken, in which two guys hold their arms over lit candles and the first one who quits loses. While the game is going on, everyone's taking damage.
