WA state, Inslee signs sweeping "assault weapon" ban

WA becomes 10th state in the U.S. to ban assault weapons after Inslee signs bill into law
when the 2nd Amendment was written, ALL weapons were "weapons of war" and that's precisely the point!
Inslee also signed a law requiring a 10-day waiting period on all firearm purchases (via FFL)
quote:
An emergency clause in the assault weapons bill means that the manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, or offer for sale of any assault-style weapon are immediately banned in the state of Washington.
“These weapons of war have no reason other than mass murder. Their only purpose is to kill humans as rapidly as possible in large numbers,” Inslee said. “And I will say this–AR15s should not be idolized, they should be prohibited and that’s what we’re doing today.”

Washington.
Such a pit of a state when it comes to freedom.
If I could vote out three states from the Union, WA would be included in that trifecta.

So, they are only banned after they've committed an assault?

Were the guns used in CHOP legal before they were shooting each other in the middle of a DMZ within Seattle?

Ironically Washington has one of the strongest state constitutions when it comes to personal freedoms but these politicians resort to their ideology too often. As long as they have a D beside their name the people let them get away with murder.
Inslee like many politicians that showed during covid, cannot handle power and that is an understatement.

I’m still not sure what an “assault” weapon is and isn’t. You can assault someone with literally anything.

Ban people who speak in empty platitudes.

these people are fools. all these mass shootings where AR style weapons were used, same damage could have been done with a pistol!!!! maybe would have needed to bring extra magazines, but same results.

the purpose of 2A is so citizens can kill humans should the government ever overstep their authority. it isn't so we can go duck hunting.

This is a bucket with no bottom, won’t hold water

I was thinking the same thing. It might have a chance to make it through a few rounds of challenges if they were very specific in their definition of “assault style” to list out specific makes/models.
But no way a subjective term like that stands.

It was only later "activist" courts - you hate them, amirite? - that "incorporated" the amendments and held that they applied - at least in part - to states.
