In all of my life I have not ever seen so many politicians willing to protect fraudulent activity. This, if it is happening elsewhere, is going to be hugely big time!!

quote:

he Washington state attorney general released a statement on X Tuesday evening warning independent journalists to stop investigating fraudulent Somali daycare centers or they could be charged with a hate crime.

“My office has received outreach from members of the Somali community after reports of home-based daycare providers being harassed and accused of fraud with little to no fact-checking,” State AG Nick Brown stated. “We are in touch with the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families regarding the claims being pushed online and the harassment reported by daycare providers. Showing up on someone’s porch, threatening, or harassing them isn’t an investigation. Neither is filming minors who may be in the home. This is unsafe and potentially dangerous behavior.”

Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil rights, issued a warning of her own in reaction to the Washington state AG’s post.

“ANY state official who chills or threatens to chill a journalist’s 1A rights will have some ‘splainin to do,” she wrote on X, Wednesday morning. “[The DOJ Civil Rights Division] takes potential violations of 18 USC § 242 seriously!” Dhillon added.

AG is protecting FRAUD!!

Name a time when the Democrat party is on the right side of the issue? And that goes all the way back to slavery and civil rights.

I can't think of one.

Not one.

Such a thing isn't jist a coincidence. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut. They purposefully obfuscate. I'm seriously beginning to think that party is lead by Satan.

I thought these were day care centers open to the public?

Allegedly the former, but not the latter.

Its Seattle. They would vote for more of the same.

I've never seen as many broken white people as there are in the Seattle and Portland city limits.

If the state goes after any journalist for that then the the federal gvt should arrest anyone involved, including the jailer, for kidnapping, assault, violating 1st amendment rights, and anything else they can find.

There is a line between slander/libel and investigative journalism.

The latter being done with ethics and standards.

The problem is her statement is reckless in that it doesn’t distinguish (outside of filming children).

Well you have posters on this site openly calling for them to be shot and killed as well.

It may be your usage, but you can't just go bust into a home daycare and expect to be permitted in for about 50 reasons. The security and privacy of the children alone should make this obvious.

The issue is that a lot of people without training are trying to create a viral moment to get famous on social media. You're going to be dealing with a wide range of people, many who likely have no idea how to do actual research or reporting. Then the confrontation-reaction factor weighs heavily, b/c that's what they're really going for.

Nobody is "busting" in to these places. Every video I've seen shows people knocking at the door and if somebody answers, they stand there and talk to them. I guess you think Nick was behind the Minneapolis break in.
