Mainly my dislike for federal employees being leeches.
However, there could easily be a security argument for federal employees to be working from their office and not their home.
If I had to bet, I’d say most federal employees aren’t efficient no matter where we put them and especially at their home.

The more you post, the more qualified I see you are to determine what's stupid!
Your a damn expert!

Far cheaper to have someone work from home than supply an office.

Vivek is right though no more work from home for fed gov makes sense.
It makes sense for private also. I work 3 12 hour shifts at the hospital. On my off days, some of my gym buddies leave there WFH job to work out for 2 hours and still are getting paid

I posted this in another thread. If you ended WFH along with a strict hiring freeze for Trump's four years, you would massively reduce the fed workforce without laying off a single employee.
The issue DOGE and Trump will have is making their changes into law. How do they prevent the next lib from rebuilding the massive federal bureaucracy?
They should implement term limits for a certain level of positions. I know this sounds crazy, but increasing pay at those positions would attract better talent (you're saving on the back end much more due to pensions). Then, you reward these folks for implementing cost-saving measures. People stagnate in these jobs. Their ambition is sucked out of them because it is all so pointless. If you know you only have 6 or 8 years to make hay, and with that financial incentive to keep costs low, you may find better people willing to do it.

Not all of them are leeches though. I work in engineering, so I have to deal with several fed agencies that actually have some very hard working employees. There absolutely is huge bloat to be cut from fedgov, but these people I deal with earn their salaries and then some.

Your attitude/approach is the type that helped get us in this mess in the first place.
That’s why it’s taking a different approach to finally tackle taking out the bloat and waste.

This does not belong here. If Private companies can't work from home because of vivek or trump, that's communism brother.

Exactly. I never stopped going into work even during covid.

Me neither. In fact, since we make toilet paper, we were working extra.

I have several federal government clients, too. I find that the people they need are few, and the ones they don't are plenty. It's strange how that works. Like the person doing tangible work is stretched thin but he has two bosses that do nothing and then there is an army of regulatory offices he has to make sure are satisfied. It's fricked.
I also think it's a misnomer that they are all less intelligent than their private counterparts. I've worked with several people who have degrees and credentials that 95% of this board, including myself, couldn't sniff. They are in a broken system of red tape, and the life is sucked out of them.

I've been working from home for 7 years (not for the government) I'd be extremely pissed off if they told us to come back in.
Sitting here in shorts and a cap
that's cold but the Government is so unproductive.
Remember the guy who owned Peanut The Squirrel said 4 agencies signed off and 12 people showed up to take a pet squirrel

My attitude of lowering overhead costs?
My attitude of spreading out federal government out of Washington as quickly as possible?
Are those problems for you?

All of this. I feel bad for these guys and gals that are trying to get shite done but can't.

We just announced this week that if your within 40 miles of one of our offices you’re going to that office at least 3 days a week.

My wife went to work for the state for about 6 months. Her first day working, she was being shown around the office and introduced to people. They passed by one office and this dude was straight up snoring with his door wide open. The woman showing my wife around stops, goes in the guys office and said "how many times do i have to tell you, that if you are going to take a nap, close the door."
About a month in, my wife was visited by her boss and he told her, "look, you're doing a great job here. But you have to slow down. You're making everyone else look bad. You're not in the private sector anymore, you get paid no matter what".

Most contributed to building this broken system of red tape... If they are that unhappy, move on to greener pastures...
