So you can assault a judge if you don't like his ruling?

Even after all these years, I'm somehow still surprised by the lack of reading comprehension displayed on TD.

well then I'm not surprised that I'm interpreting it wrong here, lay it out with the correct comprehension

It's still a misdemeanor, the same as if you assault a non-police officer.

Why include anyone?

Assault is assault. It shouldn’t be contingent upon the job of the victim.

Josh, here’s the issue

From a libertarian standpoint ( I believe you are a full blown minarchist or an ancap), roving bands of rioters and looters are a far greater threat to liberty and property rights than the state.

Most people aren’t arresting criminals

Empowering idiots to crowd around and frick with cops will just continue to bring about incidents like Floyd, Jacob, etc

Right, but I don't think the previous law was really discouraging people from hitting cops either.

Don’t we argue all the time that laws don’t really stop criminals? If so, then what’s the problem here anyway?

That is fricking stupid. Not that I have to explain it, but this will only encourage people to assault police.

You want to increase murders? Change the law so that if someone murders someone else, they will only get 6 months probation.

Need someone to challenge a VA state senator to a contest to show how much of a slap is allowed before damage happens.

multiple slaps increasing in intensity....saying "ouch" isn't damage. keep hitting until dentures fly out?

The law often enhances penalties depending on the victim, as a deterrence.
Assault against a child or elderly person carries a heftier penalty, Bc they are helpless.
Domestic violence carries a heftier penalty than hitting a random dude.
first responders and LEO are not helpless but they are much more likely to be assaulted bc of their jobs.

Are you serious or just trolling? This may start off 'bad' for cops but will lead to more pieces of shite being shot and killed.

So if I slap a judge in the face in open court, it’s just a misdemeanor?

Oh, let me tell you how this goes the first time someone comes up IN FRONT OF A JUDGE for sentencing under this law.

Judge: 'I do not have a mandatory minimum. Maximum term.' [{BANGS GAVEL}]

Generally a minarchist, but I'll vacillate into ancap for short periods, depending on my mood

In theory, sure, but roving bands of rioters and looters can always be suppressed. It is the rare day that the State relinquishes power it has previously secured for itself. I'm always going to celebrate those days.
