Correct. Constitution only "trumps" a state's right if it is expressly delegated power or right granted.

The second amendment should meet that qualifier.

The kinds of people I see taking this job are ones whose major skill involves lips attached to someone’s arse.

No one with operational experience is going to be within 100 miles of this clusterfrick.

Abolition in America just doesn't work. You can curtail it. But that's about it.

Would just create gun running and gun stills in the end.

ETA: That said this is stuff for a conflict zone. Not the US.

I cant imagine anyone who would want to be on this force because you know it will be diverse so your gonna have at least a hand full of women. Basically means there will be about 12 guys whose job it will be to forcibly remove guns from folks who dont want to give them up. You would be safer in Afghanistan.

When gun control activist scoff at the idea of civilian firearms being used to ward off tyranny they always assume that civilians will be fighting the US military. However, the more likely scenario is the one we are seeing play out here.

There aren't 18 people in the country that would willingly sign up for this job if it actually involves going door to door and confiscating guns. My guess is these 18 positions will be "administration" positions tasked with drumming up local law enforcement to try to do the dirty work. It will fail miserably.

This could actually work out for the benefit of conservatives. Get the liberals in Northern Virginia to surrender all of their guns and then the based citizens in the rest of the state will have less resistance in dealing with Coonman.

My comment still applies.

The only people taking these jobs will be asskissers because it is a job that will pretty much requiring lying to people who will see right through you.

It’s like a military recruiter but one trying to deal with experienced LEOs rather than naive teenagers.

This is actually a good thing. I would rather it happen now and go to the supreme court than 5 years from now.

The Virginia Constitution has an expansive second amendment. So these proposals may even fail at the state level.

quote:

Article I. Bill of Rights
Section 13. Militia; standing armies; military subordinate to civil power

quote:

That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.

Time to invest in tar and feathers. Assemble the citzenry, and literally tar and feather their asses, then tie them to a log or rail and send it down a river/stream/creek.

The final step in the tar and feather process is lighting the feathers on fire. That's why the people who were tarred and feathered back in the day, ran like chickens!
