This seems a lot like taxation without representation...

I’m guessing this is legal?
Heck no! But if she gets away with it....which she won't. They're doing everything they can to keep that party relevant. They know whats coming.

We don’t hate the left enough. And I hate them immeasurably.

Ok so they're literally just disenfranchise their entire state of voters? Am I understanding correctly?
Only if they "vote wrong".
Democrats have been working their ground game with extending voting, mail in, absentee, harvesting, etc... they are confident in their ability to game enough populous states to get their popular vote.

Would be funny considering the "fake elector" BS... this would be fake electors.
What?

quote:Correct. This bill means VA joins the compact, which is still meaningless until enough EVs join the compact to have a majority. They are 48 electoral votes from that happening.
18 states plus DC have all signed onto this national compact. It started in 2006.
I am not a fan of this, but nothing has changed in VA for now.

Issue regarding compacts of states as well as the due process rights of a state's voters.
Just a reminder of the text of the Constitution:
quote:
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

This seems a lot like taxation without representation.

Hey even bother going to the polls to vote?
Even in this system, your vote would be necessary for the national vote, no?

I'm sure you recall the brouhaha over "fake" electors in 2020 (despite the call for faithless electors in 2016).
This compact would reassign electors to the national popular vote, regardless of the actual state's constituent's votes.
Thus, any electors not abiding by the vote tally within their state would be "fake".... which, honestly, the democrats only give a flip about when it's not in their favor.

Legally won’t stand. Basically this Underhandedly eliminates the electoral college without the electoral college being eliminated.

But I can tell you if I were a soon to be disenfranchised citizen voter in one of these states, so politicians would be having some sleepless nights.
If your vote counts in the national election (which it would), how are you disenfranchised?

Yes. It has no logical or factual overlap with this scenario.

Which would mean those electors are not fake in any way.

No they wouldn't.

this would be hilarious in 2024 with Trump winning the popular vote. They would have fought it like crazy with states like CA, NY, VA, WA, OR all having to put the EC votes to Trump.

Also, before people melt down. I don't personally support these laws. But that doesn't mean that I will excuse or ignore terrible arguments/rhetoric.

It's very simple Counselor even you can figure this one out. The electors of my state would be awarded possibly contrary to the results of the vote tally in my state.
Why should voters in other states have a say in how the electors in my state are awarded? What's next you going to elect Senators this way?

That doesn't mean you're disenfranchised.

I don't personally agree with these policies.
I'm a states rights guy, which runs counter to current MAGA orthodoxy.

Wouldn't work with the 17A
quote:
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof
Now under the OG rules?
quote:
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof,
They could

The only way to stop idiots like this woman from winning a gubernatorial race is to implement an electoral college system in every state. The left always talks about disenfranchised voters but they never talk about it in the governor’s race. They love the fact that only six or seven of the highest populated leftist counties control the elections in their blue states. Be damn the areas that vote conservative.
