As always, I try to look for the why when these type of headlines come out.
I tried to do some research on this because it’s blowing up in social media. I couldn’t find anything definitive but regarding the Olympics and World Cup, there are exemptions for that level of athlete.
Grok made a note that there had been issues in the past of people defecting when these teams visit the US.
