I've been thinking about all these remakes that change race and gender issues to go woke.
Why don't they just make original movies to promote the same wokeness?
I'm convinced it goes back to writing. Good writing is key to a film and very few films today involve good writing. It's easier to copy the older stuff and just change race/gender/sex orientation with some plot changes to promote their new value system.
