If you go off the wording in the Bible then yes! That is exactly what they are called.

That’s actually kind of wild to think about in the context of life on other planets.

He is getting that from the sequel to the Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey.
In the book, it predicts one day demons will visit us, disguised as aliens and UFO's to check on how we are doing. It will be used by Satan as he becomes more powerful to finally take full control of this world.
What Vance says comes straight out of it.

I’ve argued that point here before to numerous downvotes.

I asked Grok about observations from military (tic tac incident) and Apollo astronauts and got about what I expected.
In summary…
Despite the highest levels of knowledge and understanding with what aeronautic & spacecraft can do, a percentage of incidents remain “unidentified”, but does not suggest alien technology.
Grok virtually dismissed out of hand every Apollo astronaut observation, but then simply implied it must be foreign or US dark project technology.
I’m not expecting Grok to offer any substance reply but something like a non-0 chance that it’s non-human seems logical to me.

I'm with him in that belief.

That is a terribly foolish position in the event we actually see them show up to our planet.
Yes, let's lead our rednecks to want to unload their weapons on an interstellar traveler.

As far as your origin story for demons again these are just human terms for phenomena we encounter that we dont understand.
You're just changing both the definition and connotation of "demon" to keep your point alive, here.

There are NO:
Aliens or
Bigfoot or
Loch Ness Monster, period.

Good point. If we as humans on earth sent people into space (as we have), and we were able to land on another planet, we would be there to just explore/research/etc…. We wouldn’t be there to necessarily do damage or Annihilate… so there should be no assumption that aliens coming here would be seeking to do damage/harm to us. If they are here or ever come here, they could be merely checking things out… no different than us going to the moon or Mars or some other planet.
For those interested, Age of Disclosure was one of the better UFO/alien documentaries I’ve seen.

quote:You’re treating a low percentage like it means a low total. Of course most planets aren’t viable. That was always expected. What matters is how many total chances there are, and that number keeps exploding as we find more systems.
Actually, as we discover more of space, and discover there are less and less viable planets for life, this viewpoint becomes more and more reasonable every day.
Even if only 1 out of every million planets were viable, that still gives you about 100,000 potentially life-friendly planets in a single galaxy. Multiply that across 100 billion galaxies and you’re looking at something like 10 quadrillion planets.
And we haven't even got close to looking at a million planets. The universe is big enough that a miniscule hit rate still results in enormous numbers.
Having said that, I’m agnostic, not an atheist. For all I know Vance could be right. But math is concrete, and your line of reasoning is nonsense.

As I just stated in the post you're replying to, a demon and an alien, whether you believe in either, are two entirely different things, and I described those differences in the most simple of terms, because it really is that simple.
As I just stated, they could be the same thing.

If "aliens" do exist somehow amongst us, they certainly would have to do so outside our current understanding of physical science?
Are you talking specifically about interstellar travel?
If so, there’s a difference between knowledge and ability. Not being able to do something right now isn’t the same as it requiring physics outside our understanding. It means we haven’t solved the engineering.
We already know that interstellar travel can happen within known physics. The issue is scale. The energy requirements, time, and technology needed are way beyond us right now, but that’s a capability gap, not a theory gap, and not outside our understanding of science.

quote:Those estimates come from exoplanet surveys like Kepler, which measured how common Earth-size planets in habitable zones are and then scaled that across the galaxy. You don’t have to like the number, but it’s based on data, not a TV personality.
Did Bill Nye tell you this?
If you think the estimate is wrong, point to what assumption is off.

Having googled these... it's a potential possibility theoretically speaking... so, not a planet with life or that provably support life.
