Overton @overton_news · Follow Van Jones says his phone has been “blowing up all day” after he publicly called out the socialist takeover of the Democrat Party. Jones says governors and senators from both parties have been calling to thank him for saying what many Democrats have only been willing to say

They can’t. Their party has become radicalized. Since the Far Left has become much more violent they probably fear for their lives.
It’s like a lot of Muslims won’t come out and condemn radical Islam. They are terrified.

Need more democrats to say the truth…..
Their silence advances communism

Don’t fall for it. He really wants everything the DS want but knows you can’t immediately force everything that way. He is presenting himself as a “moderate” even though his positions are still extremely far left compared to previous democrats platforms. He is simply shifting the Overton Window.
Plus, his idea of far right he is alluding to is nothing than an 80’s/90’s Democrat or republican. Don’t fall for his shite.

You know who is NOT calling out the socialist/communist takeover of the Democrat party? Barack Obama. He could, essentially, end this push towards communism, by going on the talk show circuit or just doing what Van is did. But he isn't. And he wont.
Why do you think that is? Why has Obama been silent on the Democrats push towards communism? Because he's the one pushing for it.

Too late, Van. This is the Frankenstein you created. This is your party's base now. Enjoy!

It's a good thing the GOP stands for small govt and free market, right?
The snarkiness of your post suggests you believe I am on board with the current and past leadership of the GOP in Congress. I most assuredly am not.
While a lot of folks blame Democrats for the current fix this country is in, the Republicans share equally in the mess. They did little to nothing to stop the madness and are complicit in most of the corruption and wasteful spending.
They have sold their souls and this country for their own benefit, and they should all be prosecuted for their crimes.
That said, the OP is about the takeover of the donkey party by dyed-in-the-wool marxists and the mentally-ill alphabet army.

He wasn’t wrong in what he said. Those (Democrat) senators and governors should come out publicly with their thoughts about the DSA and their candidates rather than just making a call to Van.
The DNC base is soft majority socialist.
The DSA is closer to what they want than HRC for example so they can’t say what they think.
It’s like John Thune hating the MAGA/AF base but having to keep his mouth shut so he doesn’t get primaried.

I’m surprised that any Dem said anything against the communist takeover of the party.
They should have stood ground long before this instead of welcoming radicals for decades.
Now it’s too little too late.

In other words, no one has called.

The monster has been let out. No caging it now.

I wish people would stop calling it a Socialist takeover. The Dem Party, and to an extent the GOP, has already pushed Socialism for many years.
The Mamdani's coming forward now are straight-up Marxist/Communists. And Mamdani throws in the component of being a radical Islamist, too.

Where are we going to put the Klan? THAT'S what he came up with with regards to abolishing prisons?
Yeah, that remark scuttled his claim to be a spokesperson for common sense reform. We don't put people in prison for ideology, the US Constitution forbids that. We put them in prison for criminal offenses. Jones has lumped himself in with the far left radicals he singled out.

this is the inherent flaw in progressive politics - there is no catching feature. ok, so one man, Van Jones, decides that "ok now is too far". but what about all the people who have been saying "ok now is too far" for years? what about all the people who are saying "nowhere near far enough"? there is no objective "we've made it", which is why progressive politics is all consuming. there's always somethign else out there to destroy under the guise of making it more fair.
also, nice stupid "we need prisons bc where else are we going to put the Klan" as if that is even remotely relevant in 2026 and as if prisons arent mostly full of violent black criminals.
bottom line - frick him.

I agree and think this is the Democrat playbook for this cycle in a lot of places: you get the senate candidates in NC, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, maybe even Michigan, etc. along with a bunch of House candidates to claim they are not with this turn-to-the-left and they will fight it.
There are no moderate Democrats anymore. Even Governors like Cooper, Beshear, Shapiro, etc. are only moderate due to the limits the legislature place on them.

Je trained under radical leftist terrorist Bill Ayers, this is his 'fundamental transformation' moment.
