this cannot be overstated. there is no BOTH SIDES ARE SO EXTREME here. mainstream Republicans and conservatives are what they've always been, probably even less so. the left loves taking issues that literally 95% of the population agreed with just a couple decades ago and acting like they are somehow new and extreme. they are master of this kind of manipulation and propaganda, just like their Soviet predecessors.

Did Van stop being a communist? Because he was one of the most far left Obama appointees who touted his own socialist views while in a position of power.

And they’ve gotten themselves into quite the pickle because to go publicly hard against socialism would be to pit the “traditional Dems” against many of the various grievance groups who the Democratic Party once welcomed into their “big tent”.

It's very tiring to hear people like Van Jones, Bill Maher, James Carville, etc. whining about their concerns over the Democratic Socialists getting a strong foothold in the Dim Party. It's people like them who are responsible for inviting or at a minimum allowing the Democratic Socialists into the party.
