U.S. Will Build Five New Military Bases for Somali National Army

The U.S. Embassy in Somalia has announced that the United States will build five new military bases for the Somalia National Army Danab Brigade.
In a statement, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee stated the Somalia National Army is “a centerpiece of our ongoing security cooperation with Somalia.”
Phee continued that the new bases “reflects our recognition of the success of our joint efforts to build a capable, professional, and accountable force.”
In total, the new bases will cost over $100 million.

this is the escalation of the fight with Houthis/Iran. The 100 mil will be used for preliminary engr. and site survey. The state dept will fund the 50 billion to build runways, fuel storage and base facilities. Located across the Red Sea from Yemen , this is a much needed long term response point. The current navy approach is not sustainable

Exactly. You can’t even build runways with that bullshite money. This is money for some bullshite LLC some congressmen’s kids created. They will mark some location on the map, grade a dirt runway, and build some shed. Then pass more money with the next continuing resolution to keep funding the same bullshite contracts. Round and round we go.

I just finished a book about a guy on safari in Africa in the 1950s. He quoted his professional hunter as saying he refused to have a Somali on his crew. He said he never met one he could trust, who wouldn't lie, or who wouldn't stab you at the first opportunity.
