No of course Karen. We should follow the guidleines set forth in your article. JFC “no commentary”. Dont you have a HOA meeting to go bitch too?

I’ve noticed a big uptick of pedestrians getting run over in Jackson but I think that’s largely due to homeless wandering around

You’re irate and calling a calm person Karen? Should I get the manager for you?

I live in a city. I’m not the suburban Karen you embody so well, friend.

ITS THE frickING EPA REGULATIONS being based on the vehicle volume to engine size.

And the regulations seemingly always leave loopholes that render them useless anyway.

NHTSA said pedestrian deaths increased 57% from 2013 to 2022, from 4,779 to 7,522.
This is not because of larger vehicles.

Well Karen lets just have the govrrnment step in and solve this monumental problem for us.
The simple fact that you brought this here, withiut even looking at your ludicrous post history is enough for me too.
Lets hear your commentary, please. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS AFFRONT TO OUR VERY SAFETY?!?

Get rid of all of these regulations. FedGov has no business with this stupidity.

Make it illegal to cross a street on foot?
I run everyday. I run with the assumption that vehicles are not going to see or stop for me. Because, I know that I can “have the right of way” and that doesn’t mean a fricking thing because if they do not see me and they hit me, me being “right” doesn’t make me not dead.

If you get hit you are running where you deserve to be hit, or a distracted, bad, out of control for any variety of reasons is not driving where they should be.
And whether they are in a Hummer or a Prius; if they hit you through fault they are equally culpable in your death. Or we can DEMAND that our government resolves this crisis by regulating the auto industry.
Be a lot more economical if we failed the odd driver test.

There'd be at least one more 11 year old boy if that was the law.

How about a height requirement to drive them? Some of the scariest shite I see is people that can barely see over the steering wheel driving massive vehicles. When I go to Lowes or Home Depot, I feel like a giantess and I'm only 5'9". Everyone of those dudes under 5' got there in a pickup truck.

For comparison only 490 people are accidentally killed by guns every year.

No new rules. If they cant follow the rules of the road due to being unable to adjust their seat there is no way they should have a driver’s license.
I understand that people die in traffic accidents;
99% of the time it is due to impairment - which is illegal.
The rest of the time it is due to incompetence or distraction which is also already illegal. If you can pass a driver’s test you should never kill anyone.
We treat this privelage to drive as a right and with that comes a basic level of responsibility. This is already law. We dont need anything new. We either improve
As a society by teaching our children and thinking about it ourselves or accept the 67 deaths.
If we “DO” anything 67 people will still die, it willl increase every year and we will waste our time and money.
Or maybe its as simple as dont “Defund the Police” who enforce traffic laws and maybe bring punitive action towards someone before it results in death.

What could have been done to prevent the vehicle that plowed into the crowds of spectators at that Kenosha parade?
Posted on 9/14/24 at 9:16 pm to Robin Masters
I remember vehicles in the 70&80's being about 3 times larger than today's mini cars and pedistrians seemed okey with it. Had a 1981 Chrysler grand marque that drove like an air craft carrier and got 11 mpg on the open highway.

Yep and a reclined bench seat and 1” of glass to see out of
Posted on 9/14/24 at 9:21 pm to Canada_Baw
Well said. I would wager that the majority of these deaths are caused by drunk, drugged pedestrians, as well as pedestrians and driver’s distracted by damn cell phones. Reengineering vehicles has to be the dumbest idea I have heard this year, and that includes some real stupid stuff due to being an election year! Jeez
Posted on 9/14/24 at 9:28 pm to 4cubbies
Got nothing to do with people staring at their phones while walking.
Posted on 9/14/24 at 10:09 pm to 4cubbies
Most of them are homeless drunk or drugged running into street. Its the people not the vehicle
