Just regulate drinking and driving, you cluld saved ten thousand lives per year.
How about a rule to only cross the street in a crosswalk and laws that severely punish those who don't yield to pedestrians in said crosswalks?
Oh wait. Laws rules and regulations dont stop people from being dumbasses.

Now we know why the Feds want pedestrians to play in the middle of the street - to force smaller trucks.

Got nothing to do with people staring at their phones while walking
Same goes for driving and looking at a phone. Which reducing the size of trucks will do nothing to help. Our federal government infected with progressive Marxist ideology which has no room for logic or common sense.

NHTSA said pedestrian deaths increased 57% from 2013 to 2022, from 4,779 to 7,522.
Bet the vast majority of that increase is from those staring at their cellphones instead of watching for traffic.

Data show that nearly half of all pedestrian deaths when hit by the front of a vehicle are most common for SUVs and trucks.
Not sure what this tortured sentence means but:
quote:
2010
Passenger cars accounted for more than 50% of new vehicle sales, while trucks and SUVs accounted for 48%.
2022
Passenger cars accounted for 26% of new vehicle sales, while trucks and SUVs accounted for 74%
