Got it from 9,500 feet deep. Wonder how many of China's hypersonic missiles we have recovered? U.S. NAVY News link: LINK

Think about that. We recovered that thing from underneath almost TWO MILES of water.

I'm impressed. I suppose they had to find it and recover though because if they didn't, God knows someone else would have.

Although, I am curious what real benefit a country like China or Russia could have gotten from a previous generation plant that had sat in saltwater under crushing pressure for a month.

Easy. They would reverse engineer the updated avionics, weapons systems, and engineering on the Super Hornet.

They already stole whatever they needed anyways. It’s not a coincidence that both nations’ fifth gen fighters came out clones of the F35.

The platform is so old compared to current gen fighters I cannot imagine that C or R has not already gotten their hands on that tech though.

See "Azorian K-129" to see how we pulled a Russian sub from the 16,000 feet deep in 1974. No spoilers on how it played out.

The F-35C that crashed on landing and skidded off the deck was recovered in 12,400 feet of water.

quote:

“The wreckage was recovered from a depth of approximately 12,400-feet by a team from CTF 75 and the NAVSEA’s Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV) embarked on the diving support construction vessel (DSCV) Picasso,” reads a statement from U.S. 7th Fleet.
“The aircraft was recovered using a CURV-21, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), which attached specialized rigging and lift lines to the aircraft. The ship’s crane lifting hook was then lowered to the seafloor and connected to the rigging, and then lifted the aircraft to the surface and hoisted it onboard Picasso.”

The frame may be old, but who knows what internal features it has which are newer (and which the public may not know about).

Yet it still takes days and even weeks to count votes.

The things we’ve likely recovered from others won’t be published. And our pols have helped give secrets away so many times so ther countries don’t need to recover anything

yep, the electronics, weapons and possibly the engines, considering how badly the Chinese engines suck by comparison.
