70% of Chinese oil passes through that strait. Do you think the US liked that while they were negotiating with Xi? Do you think this administration didn’t realize that beforehand?

I bet Iran just now realized that the Strait of Hormuz was geographically located along its border! That was really a game changer for them!! Just wait until we discover a coastline that has existed for a millennia on the US borders!! It’s going to be really exciting

Yep.

Anyone with an IQ above freezing knew we were in full control the whole time. We blockaded the whole gulf from the Arabian Sea. Trump, Vance and Rubio have been saying they were letting the economic sanctions work. And…son of a bitch…it worked.

Actually the UK closed the straight when they forced Lloyds to not insure ships passing through. That’s what actually closed it. The UK working with the Iranians to screw Trump.

Nowhere has reported that. Would you bet me on the issue? I doubt you would because you know the odds of that happening are effectively 0.

Or I guess we could test your confidence by refining that question: what odds would you require to bet me USD that the US does not control Kharg Island?

Crashing the Chinese economy would have severe negative impacts on the US economy. Trump isn't stupid.

China is coming out of this conflict much better off than they were before, also.

Then why did we capitulate? Why not continue to engage in this relatively cheap strategy (in terms of US military resources) until we got unconditional surrender, or at least something substantive like regime change?

All the descriptions I gave are present tense as the extent of what remains is yet TBD

All fairly cheap to replace.
Most regional powers have switched to that type of military build. It would be wasteful for them to do anything else.

They do make a fairly decent (read mid-grade) APC and light armor, but that is about it for conventional military equipment.

I believe the only achievable (but unlikely) goal is more containment than crashing. There are ways that the U.S. can economically gain from a wisely negotiated deal. However, the desire that many have for crushing Iran and crippling China economically isn’t gonna happen in any manner like they hope. The zero sum game of prosperity is a weird theory and self flagellation in my opinion.

Too many people here see too many boogiemen everywhere. It seems they wish for us to crush everyone. Like this benefits us somehow.

If the U.S. went to a more defensive posture instead of seeing everything as a nail, the $1.5T proposed military budget would never be intelligently entertained.

So….expect a $1.5T military budget. SMDH
