Dressed in his civvies, he would have been just fine as long as he didn't identify himself as an Air Force officer. However, when in uniform, you represent the branch, the military, and the nation, and your actions MUST be in line with, and subservient to, the orders from the Commander-in-Chief. In uniform, you are no longer the individual, you are an emissary of our government's arm of power and you must act accordingly.
I can promise you that there are a LOT of officers and non-comms who felt very strongly against the direction Clinton, Obama, and Biden were taking us, but they did NOT act out in uniform as being in direct opposition to the elected Commander-in-Chief.

CNN is trying to sell this as "rare charges." They put a lot of emphasis on that, like it's unusual. What's rare is an active duty service member protesting their Commander in Chief in uniform because every military member knows that you will be court-martialed for it. Kiss your rank and pension good bye, here's your big chicken dinner.

I'm as big a free speech advocate you'll find anywhere on this site, and I'm no fan of Trump nor did I serve in the military. All that being said, it's no different than disrespecting your boss at work. The military doesn't deal in black and red ink, they deal in valor and sacrifice with very real consequences when things aren't working in the chain of command. This is 100% warranted.
And FWIW I agree with him. Trump should be shown the door for gross negligence.

This guy’s backstory is probably interesting. If he’s still a major after 17 years, he’s been creating headaches for quite some time. His discharge without a retirement was probably already pending and this is a delusional attempt to audition for his next adventure.
