The professors are halfheartedly attempting distance learning. Some of the classes are not even really classes at all on line. Just basically websites with assignments posted...not even pre made lectures.
Sounds like our experience with elementary and middle school.
Bogus assignments, low concentration assignments, and some that look like "view sesame street" will be the follow-up.

This is authoritarian totalitarianism
90% of the little foot soldiers are going to keep voting for it.

At Tulane it is worse the school is stringently enforcing a 15 person maximum and if the kids go across the street to Audubon Park, NOPD is out breaking up any type of gathering that forms. No one is going to class....not that there are any in person classes to attend. The kids are very upset, and they are depressed.
I've heard that too. My coworker's kid goes to Tulane. I guess they increased prices like normal too. This stuff will run them out of business.

More closely related to wrong religious institutions.
They take your money, and threaten you with hell if you don't do as they say.

Stop making such a big deal out of this. We just have to do this until we flatten the curve. Then it will all be over.
Promise.

UF has threatened expulsion if one of their students is caught at a party, even if it's across town.

They don’t want to get caught on tape with their indoctrination and Democrat rants. They only feel like they can radicalize them in smaller, in person settings.

I've heard from some college students that what they are seeing is that colleges are getting students on campus to ensure they enact full tuition then closing the campus down under the auspices of Covid.
Take the money and run.
I mean, duh. Were there people who didn't think this?
Some of this is the over dramatization of COVID. Some of it is the litigious nature of society. First death on a college campus will be a million dollar lawsuit. And some of it is the bubble higher education professors are in. If they were directly affected by the economic shutdown (aka they don't teach they don't get paid) this would not be happening.

If this is true then DeSantis should remove the President and the board. Time to play hardball.

My daughter's senior year was ruined as well. As soon as her out of state college said all classes would be virtual, we told them she will take the fall off and start in January. The students that chose to stay on campus anyway, can't leave town without permission, and even with face possible quarantine upon return. Quarantine from going to classes that are virtual anyway?? Insane and definitely not worth the money. Got an email the other day from them practically begging students to sign up for the virtual classes.

It's not just Universities.

Both of mine are at Bama. They are still attending several classes in person (every other class for distancing requirements). They say the professors are doing a good job with the virtual lectures and assignments. The biggest changes are that all meals are take-out from the greek houses/cafeterias and all social gathering have been curtailed. The bar closures didn't really affect them since they aren't of drinking age. They both know people who have tested positive since arriving and that have been quarantined.

Big changes coming one way or another. We just have to secure the executive branch and at least one half of congress for now. The left is going all in.

A prison camp that you stay home and don't even go to?
Yeah, nothing like prison, prisoners have more rights to state dissenting opinions

Are the students that are testing positive presenting symptoms or are they being forced to get tested and the finding out they are positive.....can they get the HCQ cocktail if they are presenting? Because that stuff really does work in the early stages. Every practicing ohysician I speak to who has used it on their patients swear by it

When I look back at my college years at LSU (four funnest years of my life!), I look at my freshmen year with the most fondness. You meet all kinds of people from all over the country and most are there to have a good time (with a little studying thrown in). Almost every night someone would come down your hall at Power Dorm and ask who wants to go drinking. It was almost a magical time.
All of these kids will be missing that.
Of course, it was a different time and different era and the drinking age was 18 so I don't know if kids in the last 25 years have the same experiences. However, not being able to meet all the people we met (and girls you hook up with) will definitely change their college experience.

Hall 5 - A LONG time ago!
I don't remember the exact numbers on the keypad lock, but I do remember the pattern to open my door.

I do know the quarantined are being monitored and fed. Some are being isolated to their rooms. Others are being moved to dorms specifically designated for quarantine. As for the social stuff, my daughter (FR) is still meeting people but the level of socialization (bigger parties, etc) certainly isn't what it normally would be. It isn't as Eastern bloc as some would make it out to be but the decrease in activity on campus is apparent. My kids say that most of the problem now is coming from the off-campus students.

I remember penny locking people...on the first floor they could use the window.....on the second floor, you had problems.
