Oh? I've read most of the Bible, is there a scripture saying that homosexuality isn't immoral? Because I know of a few that says it is immoral.

It basically takes a 2nd or 3rd grade reading level to recognize the Bible's stance on homosexuality.

quote:

There are large factions of the UMC that seemingly view homosexuality as a virtue and see nothing whatsoever wrong with the lifestyle.

I'm not saying they don't exist, just saying it doesn't make any sense.

Let me guess, Islam is also pro-LGBTQ too? What's next? Amish strip clubs?

How many people who go to church are divorced? How many get tipsy or drunk on game days? How can we support that when it’s condemned by scripture?

We don’t.

Try again.

It seems likely that the majority of the denomination’s churches in the United States would remain in the existing United Methodist Church

Earlier last year all of this was voted down. It is the same nonsense that split the anglicans, baptists, presbyterians, etc. Also...

Thank God for the African Congregations. Gospel will ALWAYS win.

These queer churches will split as a result of the UMC telling them "nooooooooope"

John and Charles Wesley's United Methodist Church remains intact

And if the denomination veers from the Word....

Then follow only the Word.

And that is why I was an Episcopalian, the church split and am now a proud Presbyterian.

I know how you feel. I kept wanting the Episcopal Church to make a stand on some issues: Right to Life/ Abortion, Same-Sex everything.

I waited to long; They finally did.

Divorce permissible for adulatory by the other spouse and also desertion by the other spouse.

Getting drunk is an event of sin. So would a homo sex encounter.

The difference is someone who is in a committed homo relationship is basically committed to sin. A gay marriage is essentially saying God blesses this sin.

The drunk might be struggling to quit. That is the difference. Now to compare it to a homo relationship it would be like a drunk stumbling into church with a bottle of jack daniels and still drinking. Comparing it to a gay marriage would be asking everyone to celebrate his drunkenness with him under Gods blessing.

That's how I see it.

Chiz - the Bible is pretty clear that you cannot divorce, and if you do you are committing adultery. Yet everyone on here condemning gay marriage are not condemning divorce and remarriage. According to the Bible, both are actively living in sin. You cannot have it both ways.

All that said, I’m not a Biblical scholar, but I have read some on both sides of the issue. A lot of it comes down to how words from biblical times are interpreted today. Please believe how you choose to, but just know others might view something differently.

Wels and Lcms are 2 that stick to scripture. They will never pull this nonsense. I am sure there are others out there...a lot of non denominational I would guess, orthodox catholic, Baptist, etc.

It is interesting in that supposed Catholic colleges are anything but in their adherence to scripture.

Not all protestants have gone liberal but I see why the old time Catholics think that. But they also have gone liberal with the culture.

Liberal churches favor SJW culture over scripture. There is nothing there to believe and stick with as they all seem to have strong strains of moral relativism and universal salvation.

If everything is not a sin (or at least debated heavily) and everyone is probably saved anyways...there is no point of the religion compared to anything else. That is the liberal church problem. Self defeating.

My line of thinking says if the apostles (eye witnesses) were willing to risk their life to preach the good news...then I better take it seriously.

So a bunch of conservative of churches from Europe fly to St Louis, vote then leave. Now Methodist churches here are supposed to adhere to the views from that vote.

Not a scholar, but what is this, then?

Deuteronomy 24:1

When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
