In a continuation of the march toward liberalism...

The title of the article is also disingenuous. It’s more about queer clergy than queer marriage.

quote:

Under an agreement to be voted on in May, a new “traditionalist Methodist” denomination would continue to ban same-sex marriage and gay and lesbian clergy.

quote:

It seems likely that the majority of the denomination’s churches in the United States would remain in the existing United Methodist Church, which would become a more liberal-leaning institution as conservative congregations worldwide depart.

quote:

The factions agreed to allocate $39 million to support “communities historically marginalized by the sin of racism,” according to the agreement.

And that is why I was an Episcopalian, the church split and am now a proud Anglican.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

I'm an atheist, so as you could guess I don't have an issue with homosexuality. But how dishonest do you have to be to pretend that Christianity is tolerant of it?

A pro-homosexual church is a bit like a chicken wing eating vegan.

No problems. Christians on the right, others on the left. This is any brainer.

It’s a real shame when a Christian denomination won’t let go of the bible, right?

That sounded good in your head, but you have no clue what you are talking about. There are large factions of the UMC that seemingly view homosexuality as a virtue and see nothing whatsoever wrong with the lifestyle.

Retarded liberals always mean endorsement when they preach about tolerance.

When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, I would have never thought I’d see organized, traditional religion in America in a fight for its life. No wonder the Catholics are embracing and encouraging illegals.

Thanks. Boomers?

There are a lot of theological discussions on the gay issue that are beyond my scope (ex: how accurately was the Bible translated), but we have a church that openly accepts divorced people and divorced clergy, so I don’t know how we exclude gay people. If we are going to be black and white about it, we have to do it in all areas. And for the record, I am Conservative, Christian, and don’t mind gay marriage.

The congregation in my small East Texas hometown is led by a black man married to a white woman.

Eli Goldfinger

I have never had one, but my my sister is married to a retired Methodist preacher. It’s the third marriage for both of them. Is that OK?

To answer your question, if they were a good preacher and led by example with good deeds I would. I’m past the point of judging people, I just want to know if they are a good and decent person.
