How many undetected Russian subs do you think are in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic right now? Surely our detection systems have improved

2012

quote:

An undetected nuclear submarine in the Gulf of Mexico confirms warnings from U.S. officials that the U.S. anti-submarine warfare capability is deficient.

This at a time when the Obama administration plans to cut defense spending by $487 billion over the next decade.

quote:

A Russian Akula-class nuclear attack submarine sailed undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for weeks, and was only discovered after it left. The incident will come as an embarrassment to the US Navy, which is tasked with the detection and tracking of foreign submarines.

Undersea sensors and satellites are used to locate and track them, however in this incident the submarine was only detected after it had left US waters.

The incident has also highlighted deficiencies in the US anti-submarine warfare capabilities as well as the patrol of littoral waters, an area that has seen substantial investment in recent years.

2018
quote:
Our submarines, too, might have surfaced suddenly some place in the Gulf of Mexico to shock America, Korotchenko said. We have the corresponding forces of our submarine fleet there. We do not do that for the simple reason our purpose is not to show off in such a silly way, but to cope with the assigned tasks. He warned that attempts at intimidating Russia were "useless and senseless"

2020

quote:

The U.S. Navy has spent weeks trawling the North Atlantic in the hunt for a deadly Russian submarine that was known to have deployed into the waters off the East Coast of the United States.

The Project 885 Yasen class guided missile submarine Severodvinsk is built from the very latest in Russian technology and was thought to be just a few hundred miles away from the North American coastline in the fall of 2019.

Such was the worry of the U.S. military, the search involved a large number of Navy submarines, ships, and maritime patrol aircraft, all of which proved fruitless after the sub remained undetected throughout. News of the essentially failed mission comes as U.S. Sailors have been warned to be on alert as they sail to and from ports along the Eastern seaboard and to no longer assume the Atlantic Ocean is a 'safe haven'.

'We don't have to look hard to see that the world is only getting more complicated... the Atlantic Ocean is a battle space that can't be ignored.'

'We are seeing an ever-increasing number of Russian submarines deploy in the Atlantic. And these submarines are more capable than ever, deploying for longer periods of time with more lethal weapons systems.'

The stark warning came just weeks after reports that a Russian spy ship was lurking in waters off the East Coast and operating in an unsafe manner.

2022

Russian nuclear submarine armed with 'doomsday' weapon disappears from Arctic harbor: report
Putin's Belgorod submarine is said to be capable of creating a 1,600-ft 'radioactive tsunami'

Belgorod's location remains publicly unknown as of Monday, a situation that is not particularly surprising to Koffler. Russian submarines have some of the best stealth capabilities in the world and have even entered U.S. waters undetected in the past, according to Koffler.

There have been times when Russian nuclear-powered attack submarines, armed with long-range cruise missiles, operated undetected for weeks close to U.S. shores," Koffler told Fox News Digital.

I seriously doubt there is a Russian boomer anywhere that we aren't fully aware of.

Seems our destroyers right now have a hard enough time detecting oil tankers.

The way I look at it this. I have a $3000 unit on my boat that can see an individual sac-a-lait on a brush pile 60 feet away swimming live. If I can have that as a civilian there's no way the Navy doesn't have something 100x better.

I was about to say the same thing. The political wokism has really degraded the professionalism of our navy. God have mercy on the young sailors when the next surprise attack happens.

At least they'll be able to use the proper pronouns of their attackers.

I’ve a hard time believing any vessel is in the GOM that the US isn’t aware of. That said, if I was Russia with that “doomsday” tsunami device, Houston would probably be my no 1 target.

Destroying that refining capacity would bring the us to our knees. Good thing shite for brains Biden is selling off oil in the strategic reserve as a bandaid to his shite energy policy.

That legit makes me sick to my stomach.

Until I realize how ruthless those types are.

And then until I realize again that ruthlessness is directed towards me and not our enemy.

If the world is on the brink of WWIII, why are so many of our CVN groups still in home port? C'mon men, please remember the media lies. They are going to have you believe, just before the election, Biden prevented Putin from using nukes. Friggin' liars.

Why are CVN groups taking it easy?

Can I get a link from a reputable site ? I googled but there is an inherent lack of faith in the objectivity of news sources

How much of this was a part of the "flexibility package" he promised Putin's political marionette/ventriloquist's dummy Medvedev.

Stolen elections?

Sure, bad, but this is what can happen when voting is based on guilt, pandering, and the naive belief that one can buy peace and tranquility for himself.

As soon as the dustup started, our LNG plants were running full out to help Europe......

-We have totally open borders
-The Freeport LNG plant, not far from the border, the second largest in the US, has a catastrophic fire.

I wonder if there is another country that would have a vested interest in that happening and access to that open border??????

No indeed! Manhatten! One fourth of it is below ground, and the Wall Street end is low.
