Saw it in the theater. The 3D and surround sound adds an extra visceral layer to it.

Nah. I didn’t mean that in a derogatory way to our veterans either. I respect the hell out of anyone who has served, and I can’t relate to their experiences. I am a millennial, and I was talking about my own generation.

I was more trying to show respect to the earlier generation portrayed in this video. Those men were true badassess and heroes who saved the world from tyranny.

And transgenders storming the beaches of Normandy. They did touch on this in M*A*S*H actually...but even Klinger would be disgusted at this concept.

Thanks for shitting on our all volunteer armed forces, many of whom have done four or more tours...a-hole.

Way to walk it back. Too bad there hasn't been any wars going on during your adulthood that you could serve in.

I read somewhere that they were using restored audio and I guess I took that to mean it was all restored audio.

Just from a technical standpoint, there is very little sound film from the second world war, much less the first. There was no audio "recorded" so nothing to "restore" - as it is, we're lucky to have any of it considering the technical challenges of filming at that time and on those battlefields.

I just watched the movie. Had to buy it online from Vudu.

It is a great film. That was a horrible war and probably the most important war of the 20th century.

It was kind of shocking to hear the one guy say he didn't want to go back home after getting the news that the war was over.
I've heard that people who've been in prison for a long while get institutionalized and don't want to be let out. Perhaps he was suffering the same type phenomenon?

I’m sure it’s hard to go back to farming corn in rural Kansas after seeing the places and things they saw.
