from what I can tell Ukraine is basically waging an insurgency

You cant really call it an insurgency when 1.the Ukrainian military is still very much intact and effective 2. the Russian military is not in control of the country. 3. the Ukrainian government still exist inside the country.

Ok guerrilla warfare then. Whatever you want to call it the outcome and the meaning of my post doesn’t alter.

I don't understand the point. It doesn't make sense to use that tactic against an army that has obviously been going soft in order to limit civilian casualties. That tactic isn't meant to intimidate, it's meant to piss off.

It's almost as if Ukrainian soldiers are desperately trying to force Russian soldiers into a blind rage situation...where they start actually targeting civilians and slaughtering them wholesale.... just so Ukraine can get more positive press and Russia gets more negative press. I don't agree with using civilians as potential sacrifices just for PR reasons.

"WE" have been poking Russia on purpose for the past 8 years trying to provoke war

Sorry I guess I didt really get your point. There is some guerilla style tactics being used but the bulk of the fighting is being conducted by Ukrainian Army regulars in full on combat with Russian troops.

Ukraine Nazi's (fricking Nazis) have been slaughtering civilians in Donbas for more than 8 years.

The media covered for them.

You dont think the current damage done to population centers and killing of civilians, not to mention the displacement of millions of people, justifies the blind rage of the Ukrainians? Its strange how you twist the Ukrainians justifiable rage into a tactic for PR reasons.

Stick to brutalizing the soldiers.

I don't even think we deliberately went to terrorize the family members of nazis we killed in ww2. Especially immediately after our guys killed the nazis.

We deserved what we got in each of those conflicts

it's rich that you're a US Marine, and you poopoo the fact that America has invaded the absolute frick out of countries for the past 6 decades, and you have the audacity to point at Russia coming in over the way Donbas has been treated - by fricking Nazis! - for the past 8 years.

You don't know what you're talking about.

My family and I would travel to Eastern Europe and Russia almost every summer when I was a kid. I've seen people on the street in Moscow openly wearing Nazi arm bands.

I don't know what "history" you're reading but I recommend some real life experience. Eastern Europe is a very different place.
