You're just following the Populist Conspiracy rules here. If there's no evidence, it's true b/c that means "They" covered it up. If there's all kinds of evidence to the contrary, it means its true b/c "They" planted it.
It's just a formula to justify believing whatever you want to believe.
I don't usually go in for conspiracies, but this one seems plausible to me.
Not the one y'all believe in, though. I don't think the government is hiding anything b/c I don't think there's anything to hide other than what everyone has already seen on t.v..
I think it's more plausible by far that it's a CIA misinformation campaign designed to manipulate the population. Another Operation Mockingbird.
I'm not claiming that is a fact, btw, I'm just saying that it's a far more plausible theory to me than the government announcing that it is going to release real information about aliens and then not doing it. If there was really something to hide, why would they ever announce it in the first place? Why wouldn't they deny the hell out of it?

I think most of the alien and UFO sightings through the years were military and CIA ops. Especially the stuff from the 50s and 60s, but I also am of the opinion we aren't alone in the universe, and am totally open to the idea that there could be civilizations way more advanced than us.
If there is anything at Area 51, we would never fully be told what it is, and OP thinking we would is delusional.
