The National news media and Houston media specifically is pushing a false narrative of lack of hospital beds.

quote:

The ICU Patient count (by TMC) peaked one month ago on June 15th, and has declined weekly. Meanwhile regional general bed (SETRAC) availability is at almost 50%. ONLY HALF the beds are filled in the 9 county Harris region.

This is false. Pooka talked to someone in maintenance who said they’re completely full and overwhelmed.

Can't be true. NYC media told me that our hospitals are overrun and the chaos in the streets is overwhelming Texas. They obviously know better

I ran over hundreds of bodies on my way home from dinner last night it's getting worse than Net Neutrality

The local officials here are already moving to “cases” ie they have the data in OP and are moving the goalposts. Again.

I can’t follow his math. He has graphs comparing overall beds and ICU from what I can tell. Maybe I’m reading it wrong.

Notice that not a single individual setting policy has cared to comment on what ICU capacity typcially looks like?

I remember thinking on March 15th when the stock market bottomed that the municipalities would be so desperate for financing that they would do anything to stay shut down for federal relief. Here we are 4 months later almost by the day and they have proven that theory correct. You allow econominc incentives to stay shutdown and you will stay shutdown.

If Trump and Republicans has balls they would not extend eviction freezes or unemployment - let state and local officials own their response. Want to shutdown? It’s completely on you.

Trump is essentially nuttered right now. He shouldn't sign the next stimulus extension this month but he will.

Yeah, but there were 207 COVID ICU patients on June 15th and 646 on July 11th. That is over a 200% increase in a month. If the ICU now had the non-COVID census that it had then, you’d have a little over 1800 in the ICU.

The federal government should have been effectively hands off on the entire handling of all of this. CDC does CDC things and Trump let's the private sector do it's work. There's too many people in this world that believe 99.9% of the population are mentally retarded and can't manage their own risk except for themself. It is what it is.

I will vote Dem down ballot if these pussies allow that to happen. I'm pretty much fully committed to moving out of the state at this point.

Dr. Faisal Masud, Director of Critical Care at Houston Methodist, gave an interview this weekend where he discussed what’s happening there. I’m sure you can find on social media if you want to hear it.

To summarize, he said that they still treat non Covid patients in the ICU in addition to Covid patients, so while they are not maxed out, they are Clearly in Phase 2 and are stretched thin on manpower and capacity.

So they are handling it now as best as possible, but the trajectory is what is most concerning and disturbing to him.

Advisors are different from handlers.

Trump has advisors. Biden has handlers.
